The next morning, Barry was up and getting ready for something. I turned over and watched silently, confused about where he was going so urgently. My body was pretty sore still and my head was throbbing, but I tried my best to ignore it.
"What are you doing?" I asked, making him turn around.
"I'm going to go meet with Iris to make sure she's okay." I raised my eyebrows and then closed my eyes. I was too tired to even speak about it. "What was that look for?"
"I didn't give a look," I responded, hugging the pillow under my head.
"Yes, you did. It's the look that you give when you are annoyed with something." I kept my eyes shut, not wanting to deal with this now. "Is it Iris? Do you still think I have feelings for her?" I opened my eyes and slowly sat up.
"You're not making it seem like there aren't any feelings for her. And she's doing the same." I said. His expression dropped and I shrugged. "I know you guys are best friends, but best friends don't wipe the ketchup off of each other's faces or flirt with each other all of the time."
"I know it may seem like something more than it is, but really, nothing is going on. You have to believe me. I'm finally with you, which is what I've wanted for a while." He tried to assure me as he sat on my bed. I looked around his face, trying to find the lie hidden in his expression. "I don't like her like that anymore." He doesn't realize that there's not much trust between us. I've seen how easy it is for him to lie.
"Okay." He smiled and kissed me on the cheek before standing up again.
"Now, get some sleep." He grabbed his phone and I lied down on my pillow. He smiled as he walked to the door and waved bye to me before closing my bedroom door. I waited until I heard the front door open and shut before I jumped out of bed.
I wasn't going to lay in bed all day. I couldn't. I got out of bed and walked into my closet. I grabbed some black jeans and a white shirt with a brown jacket over top. I didn't know what I was going to do, but staying in bed was not going to be it.
I walked out of my room, squinting from the extra light, but quickly regaining myself. I drove to S.T.A.R. Labs because I figured Cisco was building something that could help us and I wanted to see if he needed an extra set of hands.
I walked into the Cortex, seeing that no one was there. I looked around with confusion and walked out, trying to find where Cisco could be. I looked around, my heels clicking as I walked. I walked into his lab and saw he wasn't in there either.
"Cisco?" I asked while walking down another hallway I've never been down before.
"Aspen? I'm in here." He yelled back. I followed the voice and I looked into one of the rooms and saw a giant contraption that I've never seen before. I walked in and saw Cisco was working with part of the machine. "What are you doing here, aren't you supposed to be on bed rest?"
"Yeah, but I couldn't stay. What is that thing?" I asked, leaning against the door frame and watching Cisco work busily.
"It's a trap that we used to try and catch The Reverse-Flash around Christmas time." He explained, not looking at me. I walked into the room and joined his side, trying to see what he was doing. "It failed, but it didn't make sense because everything was fully intact."
"What happened?" I asked as he powered on the machine and walked over to the controls.
"The Reverse-Flash got out and nearly killed Dr. Wells, so I'm trying to figure out how that happened." I nodded, looking down at the controls too.
"So where is everyone? Shouldn't Dr. Wells be helping with this too?" I placed my hands on my hips and Cisco paused for a moment before turning to me.
