The entire morning I've been trying to call Caitlin, but it's still being sent straight to voicemail. Even if her phone was broken, she would've told me on someone else's phone or come over to tell me. This wasn't like her.
I skipped going to Jitters because I wanted to get to S.T.A.R. Labs early enough to see her and ease my mind. If she's not there, I don't know what I'm going to do. I don't like that she went MIA when a dangerous guy with a cold gun was out there roaming the city.
I got to S.T.A.R. Labs and it felt like the elevator was extra slow today when going up. As I was walking out, I felt a breeze pass by my face, but I ignored it and ran right to the Cortex. Cisco and Dr. Wells were the only two in the cortex and they turned toward me curiously.
"Woah, Aspen, are you--" Cisco started.
"Is Caitlin here?" I asked, looking between the two of them.
"No, she hasn't come in yet." Dr. Wells answered, looking up at me with curiosity. I felt my heart sink at Dr. Well's words. She hasn't answered me in a while and I was starting to get panicked.
"Why? What's wrong?" Cisco immediately asked.
"She's been MIA for a while and I have no idea where she is." I quickly turned back around and started to run out of S.T.A.R. Labs. A million thoughts were rushing through my mind and I couldn't stop them.
She was missing and I felt like there was no way it wasn't the doing of Captain Cold-- Snart. He probably took her to try and get The Flash's attention, or something like that. I don't particularly care about the motives, I just care about getting Caitlin back.
My feet carried me down to my car and I felt like I was violating the law in all aspects because I was speeding down the street to CCPD. If anything, Barry was there and he had to help find her.
I don't know why I was going to him, but I had a small ounce of hope that he would be the one to get her back. Maybe he wasn't going to himself, but I needed him to help me. Caitlin was missing and I was going to spiral if we didn't find her.
Before I knew it, I was out of my car and rushing up to the floor where Barry was on. I could feel the tears building in my eyes, but I wasn't going to let them free just yet. If he told me there was no way to find her, then I would start balling, but if he can find her, they can easily be pushed away.
I got off of the elevator and my erratic nerves blurred my vision as I scanned the precinct for Barry. At first, I didn't see him and I was about to run up to his lab, but then I saw him standing by one of the desks. My legs took action before my brain did and before I knew it, I was running to him.
"Woah, Aspen, what's wrong?" He asked once I got closer to him. My lack of cardio and breath caught up to me and I could barely speak. "Hey, breathe and tell me what's wrong." His hands gripped my arms in comfort and I sighed, looking around while I steadied my breath.
"Caitlin's been missing for a while. She hasn't been answering my texts or calls and she's not at S.T.A.R. Labs." I quickly told him, running out of breath again. His comforting hands stayed on my arms as he looked around and then back at me.
"Okay, hey, it's okay. I know. You came to the right place, we'll find her, I promise." He said, looking right into my eyes. I looked away for a second, but I couldn't escape his green eyes especially since we were so close to each other.
"Okay." I sighed, looking up at him. "W-wait... how do you know?" He pressed his lips together and exhaled sharply like he was about to give me the bad news.
"Listen, Joe called me today and said they found Caitlin's car. Her car door was iced over and there was no sign of her anywhere." He told me, basically breaking my heart into pieces. I stared at him, tears filling my eyes again as he spoke those words.
