Chapter 17- phone call

Jeff~

He rang Genevieve up. Why? Actually I also don't know.

"Hello?" Genevieve's cheerful and energetic voice chirped. Jeff choked back his fears before speaking.

"Hi... Genevieve." He stuttered. There was a pause on the phone. Then Genevieve took in an audible big breath.

"Yes? If you have nothing better to say... please hang up." Genevieve said irritably.

What's got into her? Jeff thought. Why is she so unfriendly now? He tried to remember what wrong he done to her but he recalled nothing.

"Ahhhhh..." Jeff said. What she he tell her? How should he put it? Like seriously he needed advice!

"Shoot it Jeffery. I don't want to waste MY time on the phone with you." Genevieve spat angrily. Woah. Jeff thought. She got mood swings. Then Jeff took in a breath.

But also in reality he was a bit insulted that he was so hated by her.

"Can we meet up?" He asked. Another pause and then a hesitation. And then a sigh.

"Can't we just talk on the phone?" She asked. But she sounded like she was pleading him now. Jeff thought. Too risky. It won't sound sincere.

"Ah...no." He said then tried being his usual cool figure." I will pick you up at 7 sharp."

Genevieve protested but Jeff cut her off.

"7 ok. Remember to bring coloring materials." Jeff said. Genevieve was silent on the other end and then she said a quick bye before hanging up.

With a certain longing, he wishes he could hold the phone near him till 7. To be close to Genevieve's voice to be closer to her before their meeting.

Before it was too late.

Genevieve~

She lay on her bed in frustration. Must Jeff be always like this? It was 3.30 in the afternoon. She was going to break into a billion pieces, too many things to take in!!!

She mentally listed out what happened:

-Eve is holding a party and she is included. Yay. Minor thing

-Her mom is involved in some spy thing and if things get out of hand she is going to kill someone. WTF?! Seriously. Her mom killing someone. Her mom was vain and strict on occasions but this is outrageous. But yet still possible to think of it. Genevieve don't know why but the thought of her mom as a spy was horrible. Ok.

Cool down Genevieve. Cool down.

Then again she didn't think so. This is getting boring. Next point.

-Jeff

Then she jumped up. Wh yeas this topic in her mind. And apparently in was the MAIN reason for her being frustrated. Why? Genevieve shrugged. It seemed to have taken so much space in her mind. Actually second to algebra. That topic is a horrid one. Compared to the teacher it wasn't so. Honestly. So what was wrong about Jeff? Um...

His flirting habits. The way he talks, the way he walks, even the way he eats!

Too put it simply...

Everything. Why? She doesn't know. But something told her that night will change everything. Bad way.

Then she mentally counted hours, minutes, seconds and milliseconds to 7 o' clock.

Then there was a knock on her door. Her mom peered in.

Genevieve sat up immediately. Uncomfortable with her mom around. Even though she didn't do anything wrong. Maybe she did. No one knows.

"Honey?" Her mom asked," are you free now?" Genevieve gulped and then thought.

No! Don't let her in! A part of her thought.

Yes! She is your mom! Another part said.

Genevieve looked at her indecisively. Then tuned out from her mind.

"Uhhh. Sure. Come in." Genevieve said and smiled. Adele walked in confidently as if she knew Genevieve was going to say 'yes'.

"How is your life going?" Adele asked.

"Fine" Genevieve replied.

"I'm so sorry nowadays I neglect you because of my work. I will make it up to you ok honey?" Adele continued. Genevieve took the words in painfully. Her mom cares for her. No matter what. No matter if she is a spy or what not.

"I love you mom." She said, hugging her mom." Thank you for being so caring towards me."

"I love you too." Her mom said happily.

Dear readers,

Based on the comments I saw, I'm truly deeply horrified. You guys think Genevieve's mum is going to kill Genevieve?! No she is not! Please no. And here is Jeff and his problems again.Dun Dun Dunnn.

BTW, I gave you an early update coz no one disturbed my studies.
