Genevieve~

She sat on the swing with Ron, they were inches apart as the swung high and low. Genevieve was deep in thoughts when she suddenly noticed Ron was holding her hand tightly. She blushed and looked away, far away thinking...

Could she ever forget the past and continue with the future? Genevieve bit her lip till she tasted the metallic taste of blood. Tears threatened her eyes for a bit as she thought about Jeff. Then Ron gently called her, making her break away from her sad memories and thought for a moment. Ron's blue eyes were full of concern and warmth, making Genevieve shiver lightly at the thought of Jeff's beautiful eyes, smile and ruffled, messy hair.

That is enough Genevieve! She screamed in her mind.

"Your birthday is next week right?" Ron asked concerningly. His arm was suddenly wrapped around her, Genevieve squirmed around, uncomfortable to be so close to a guy she had just known like a week ago, after her last chat with Jeff.

Often she did find herself face to face with him. However, therewas a thick layer of glass between them and she often ran away as quickly as possible and she would always run into Ron's arms. Jeff would hang out with Veronica, who was like his top choice as a girlfriend now that they were together most of the time. A pang of sadness hit her again, as she sighed mentally.

"Gen?"Ron gently shook her shoulder. Genevieve gave him a smile that hopefully calmed him down even though that smile was a sad one. Then she slightly nodded her head.

"Yea, it is next week." She replied, as Ron hugged her tighter.

"What do you want as your present?" He asked. Genevieve's gaze shifted nervously around, glancing at the trees planted neatly in the yard. What did she really want? Something even Ron cannot give her. She wanted Jeff by her side.

"Nothing." Genevieve replied, playing nervously with her fingers. Ron had not seen her and just stood up.

"Gen! It is your 18th birthday! How can you not know?!" He exclaimed throwing his hands in the air."Anyway I am taking you out for your birthday surprise tomorrow. No buts. I will pick you up at 7." Ron finished, smiling proudly at her. Genevieve sighed, she knew once Ron made up his mind he would never change it. Then she stood up, brushing the leaves that had fallen on her skirt off and nodded. Ron smiled. There was a heavy feeling in Genevieve's heart that she could not explain. She did not want Ron to celebrate with her. She wanted Jeff.

Then she bid Ron goodbye and headed to her locker. Then she opened it and saw a heart shaped note inside. She opened it cautiously and was surprised to see a very familiar handwriting.

"Be careful with who you go out with. XOXO."

Genevieve turned her head to see who had given her the note, however the hall was empty. Fear gripped her with icy fingers. What was going on? Who wrote that note?
