Seven Years Later...
Genevieve~
She felt herself being dragged onto a bumpy surface which turned into a grainy sandy surface, before she tasted the salty smell of the sea and the rushing sounds of the waves. Genevieve realized she was at one of her favourite places, the beach. Jeff was holding on to her right hand while her left hand held a basket of who-knows-what. Genevieve cannot believe Jeff persuaded her into wearing a blindfold so he could lead her everywhere she went. She had to admit it was kind of cheesy though, it was not that cheesy.
It was super cheesy. But she had to admit, she liked that feeling.
After they graduated, Genevieve and Jeff both scored pretty well and went into a well-known University. Correction. Make it two different Universities as they had scholarships to two different ones. However, the long distance relationship did not make them drift apart, however it brought them closer. Jeff became a well-known detective who could crack any case, no matter how difficult. Genevieve became a vet, she treats pets at a place downtown. In the end, Genevieve got the ownership of the house left by her 'mother' and Jeff eventually got out of the house his aunt owned and shared a house with Genevieve.
I know what you are asking, but no. They sleep in separate rooms. Unless Genevieve has a nightmare and literally wakes the whole house up, and Jeff would have to do his boyfriend duties by comforting her and ending up sharing the bed, no nothing ever happened. Ron eventually got a girlfriend called Veronica after asking her out 50 times, giving her 77 rose bouquets, 99 love letters and 1 amazingly cheesy confession. Eve eventually broke up with Isaac though and was currently single. Isaac got a new girlfriend called Desiree and the last time Genevieve heard, they were actually getting married. Honestly, Genevieve was slightly jealous of them, Jeff had not mentioned anything about getting married yet. She blushed at the thought of settling down and having kids, although that did not seem like a bad idea...
"Gen? Are you still awake?" Jeff exclaimed, shaking her hard. Genevieve snapped out of her fantasies and looked around frantically before stopping to look on the ground .
"Yeah. What were you saying?" Genevieve asked meekly. She felt Jeff's hands behind her head and then a blinding white light made her shut her eyes again. She slowly opened her eyes, adjusting to the brightness of the light. When she finally realized what it was, she felt like the most idiotic person on earth, it was a damned flashlight shining white beams of light in her face.
"THE LIGHT IS BLINDING ME YOU IDIOT!" Genevieve yelled at Jeff and pushed the light away from her. Jeff switched off the torchlight and handed Genevieve a key.
"Open the basket." He told her simply, his eyes were cold and he was as still as the ocean at night. Genevieve hesitated a moment before going ahead and pushed the key into the lock. The basket opened with a soft click and Genevieve pushed the cover open. In there lay a soft toy. And a card.
"OMG. Eeyore!" She hugged it gleefully, feeling like a kid again. "Thank you Jeff!" Genevieve exclaimed happily and rushed to put her arms around the 25 year old guy. She inhaled his scent which smelt strangely of oranges and lemons. He returned the embrace by hugging the 25 year old girl tightly.
"Read the card." He prodded Genevieve, "Come on" Genevieve held her Eeyore in her left hand and picked up the card with her other hand. She opened it and read it out loud.
"Happy birthday my dearest Genevieve, you are finally old enough to be a spare root by 5." Genevieve froze for a moment before feeling a little ashamed. She actually forgot her own birthday! "Whaa-at?" Genevieve stammered," It's my birthday." She realized and started laughing.
"Oh my. Jeff, I actually forgot my own birthday!" She giggled, clutching the Eeyore and the card tightly. They settle down to eat dinner on the beach. Prawns with black pepper sauce, pumpkin soup with rice and double mcspicy burgers. Genevieve grinned and rubbed her hands together and dug into her favourite food.
"Mmmm. Delicious!" Genevieve commented as she took big mouthfuls of the burger. Jeff ate quietly beside her. Jeff cleaned up the area and threw the rubbish into the nearby trash can. Dinner was awkward. Genevieve found Jeff slightly weird that day, but he offered to take a walk with her on the beach. Barefooted, the pair held hands and walked on the slightly damp sand. Just then, Jeff yelled,"Bet you can't catch me!" He teased and ran towards the other side of the beach. Genevieve chased after him, picking up speed.
"Caught you!" Genevieve breathed as she lay on the sand panting heavily. Jeff raised his hands to surrender but then took out another basket behing his back. It was smaller than the previous one. He dangled it in the air, smiling from ear to ear before handing it over to Genevieve. He handed her a key that was noticeably hanging likea necklace around his neck.
"It must be important if he kept it so safely." Genevieve thought as he carefully handed her the key. Curiousity burned inside her as she unlocked the basket with another click.
A box.
Jeff snatched the box away, even before Genevieve had a chance to admire it. He went down on a knee and opened the box, revealing a diamond ring.
"Errr...I am not really good with words, but Genevieve, I love you and I would want to spend the rest of my life with you, so will you marry me?" Jeff proposed.
Genevieve blinked back tears of happiness as Jeff waited for her answer.
"Yes! I DO!" She replied and hugged him as he put the ring on her finger.
