Chapter 27 - Presents

Genevieve~

Finally that day has come, it was her birthday. Her 18th birthday. She was excited of course. Dressed in a knee length baby blue dress she hurried out of her house. In the mad dash she spotted a box wrapped in a polka dot wrapping paper, in a hurry she quickly grabbed it, tucking it safely under her arm as she ran to the car. Even the chauffeur was in a good mood, he wished her a happy 18th birthday before continuing to tell her a story about his 18th birthday. Geneveive had listened to his story and eyed the box closely and slowly opened it, revealing a sapphire necklace with crystals at the sides. Genevieve's eyes widened at the surprise and she searched the box which had a card along with the present.

Dear Gen,

I cannot believe you are already 18! It seemed just like yesterday when you still were a little girl wearing nappies. Happy birthday and I hope you liked the gift I got for you.

Genevieve smiled slightly at the thought her mom remembered her birthday. She gently traced the necklace, the sapphire shone in the sunlight filtering in from the car window. She wore it around her neck to remind her it was her birthday. Finally she reached school and Eve was standing outside, when she saw Genevieve she jumped up and down happily and ran to hug her.

"Happy Birthday Gen!" She gushed,"oh my gosh you look so cute, Ron will definitely fawn over you later!" Gen felt a blush creep up her cheeks at her best friend's remark. Then they went in talking about her birthday. Eve then handed her a box. Genevieve's grin widened at the content. It was a figurine from precious tots. She hugged Eve while jumping up and down. 

"Thank you Eve! I love you so much!" She yapped while holding the figurine carefully in her hand. Then she felt a hand on her shoulder, she spun around and spotted a pouting Ron. Genevieve looked at the adorableness of him and pinched his cheeks while cooing slightly.

"Why are you upset?"She asked while pinching his cheeks. Ron pulled Genevieve close to him and he placed his lips on hers. Genevieve felt him smile.

"Happy birthday sweetheart." Ron breathed in her ear and gave her a peck on the cheek and Genevieve's face was slightly flushed pink. "I will give you my present later." Ron winked at her. Genevieve smiled from ear to ear. She looked at the time, her eyes widened as she saw the time.

"We are late! Let's go!"She said as she, Ron and Eve ran to class. 

The day passed in a blink of an eye, Genevieve did not see Jeff anywhere. Perhaps he was not feeling well. She thought, her shoulders sagged. Then she sighed unhappily as she went to her locker to shove her books in. A handmade rose fell out. Thinking it was from Ron, she picked it up to admire it, however she was proven wrong again. 

Jeff sent it. He was in school. Genevieve's lip curved up. He did not forget. But where was he? She looked around her, the student body did not help her by crowding around the hall. Genevieve sighed in frustration as she saw a note attached to the rose.

Meet me after school at the Peak. Do not be late. And happy birthday Gen.

Genevieve smiled. The peak was the place she and Jeff went to when she lost her bracelet. Those memories... Genevieve shook her head slightly. She was looking forward to meeting Jeff though. And she closed the locker door and strolled to class, carrying the rose in her hand. She brought it to her nose and inhaled, it had the scent of citrus and peppermint mingling on it, Jeff's scent. Genevieve remembered, bringing the rose close to her heart.

It was time. Genevieve had took a cab to the hill and then stood at the Peak, the wind rustled her hair. Why did she even come in the first place? Why did she listen to Jeff?
