Who's Mackenzie?

Mid day:

We continued our journey through Wonderland until we reached the border of the dark forest. "Emma and Kenzie should stay here, Petra and I will go." I said "No, I'm coming with you, Alex. I won't have you put yourself in harm's way while I sit here doing absolutely nothing." My brave girlfriend said. I look at her and exhale, then I tilt my head slightly. "You're so brave, one of the million reasons I love you." I said, she blushed and looked down, what she often does, and I think it's adorable.

"Enough with this mushy stuff, let's just get on with this!" Petra said and entered the woods. "I'll lead, I know this realm better than any of you." I said and walked ahead of the Enchantress. "This deep dark forest is a vast and dangerous place. Look away from anything for a moment and you could get lost." I said as I walked. But it was quiet, and there was no answer. "Oh Rocking-horse Flies." I sighed, and turned around, only to find that everyone behind me had disappeared.

I wandered through the dark forest for what seemed like hours, but time goes funny through Wonderland, especially in these woods. I was out of breath, about to collapse and give up and be lost in these woods forever, but I saw a part of the forest shrouded in light. As I grew closer, I saw large pink/purple flowers the circumference of one's head, emitting magic dust. Then I realized where I was, and I knew I needed to get away--- fast!

But I couldn't just simply run from this. Because I saw Mackenzie prancing in this light zone. What I haven't told you yet is that with high amounts of the dark flower's dust in your lungs, you will want to stay forever, and eventually become one of the trees. I ran after her. But just as a precaution I took out a green handkerchief and tied it around my mouth and nose so I wouldn't breathe in the toxic air. "You need to get out of here Kenz, it isn't safe!" I said. "Oh I'm so happy you're here! Look what I made!" She said careless to my warning. She showed me a heart shape she made out of rocks and sticks in the grass.

"You aren't well, we have to get out of here. Now take this-" I tried to tie a handkerchief around her too but she stopped me. "No. I wanna stay at this fantastic place, you can too! You, me, and the carpenter!" Kenzie exclaimed. "Who?" I asked. She pointed to a smiling man who was unmoving and holding a blade. My girlfriend continued doing... whatever she was doing as I walked to this man. "Not sure I want to stick around the man smiling with a knife." I said. But I noticed he was a tree from the waist down.

"Oh no!!!" I said in shock and dashed back to my girlfriend "Mackenzie we have to go now, if we don't, we'll turn into trees!" I said. She looked at me funny as if she didn't know a thing "Who's Mackenzie?" She said and stood up. "No.. don't do this, I know you're in there." I said. She was a tree from the waist down, with vines and branches coming out. They held me down. Roots held my legs to the ground and vines held my wrists so I couldn't move.

"You stupid child. You really should stay." She said carelessly. To my surprise a branch grew out and impaled me straight through the stomach. The pain was unbearable! There was so much blood, I was going pale and about to pass out. But then everything was reversed, and Mackenzie cried "Alex?!" As I fell to the ground, and shut my eyes.

I was going to sleep for a very long time.

Or so I thought.

For Petra and The Saviour were here, and healed me. I opened my eyes and saw Mackenzie crying into my shoulder. "Kenz..." I said. "I'm so sorry!!!" She said. I put my hand over my head and hugged her as I sat up. "It's ok. I'm just glad you're okay." I told her, pulling back. "All you have to do is kill the toxic plant to revoke the curse." Petra said. "Oh and here..." she handed me the pouch with dark flower dust in it. "What's next on the list?" Emma asked. We all smiled and I was helped up to walk. As we left the dark forest, I looked to my right. The carpenter was now one with the forest.
