After what seemed like hours of driving, Murdoc perked up in his seat and slammed his hands down on the dashboard. It woke you up from your coma-like driving state and caused you to swerve a bit. "MUDDZ WHAT THE HELL?" You exclaimed, giving him the side eye while trying to steady your driving once again. "Just saw ah' sign, luv! Jussa' few more miles!" You felt relief flow through you. It was almost time to get out of this godforsaken car. "So, it'll be dark again? Or at least getting dark?" You asked. Murdoc nodded in reply and waved his hand around as he spoke. "Well ehh, the night will be creepin' in. We'll be able ta' pull ova' n' pack our bags n' shit." You nodded understandingly and continued down the highway without speaking another word. For a while, it was quiet in the car. And rather calm. Murdoc laid back in his seat and kept his mouth shut, which lead you to believe that he was asleep. You let yourself drift back off to a dreamlike state, allowing your mind to wonder and fill up with ideas and possibilities. You weren't thinking about anything in particular, which would usually cause someone to swerve off the road and crash into a pit of cacti and stones, but doing this helped you drive straighter. Which may be hard to believe, but it's worked for you since you started to learn how to drive back when you were 14.
During your journey around in your thoughts, you began to imagine what it would be like right now if Murdoc hadn't busted into your little guitar shop. What it would be like if he hadn't persuaded you to get into this bloody car. You gripped the steering wheel tighter, causing you to come to and realize you should think of something different. Thinking in depth of this whole situation only caused you pain, your knuckles and a bloody hoodie to be your reminder. You shook off the feeling of regret and self hate and went back to thinking about nothing in particular. The silence began to overtake your thoughts though, causing you to get unreasonably tense, cooped up in this silent, boring broken down piece of shit on wheels. You let a deep breath out through your nose and began to tap your thumbs on the steering wheel to the beat of Tomorrow Comes Today. It was the first song, and the only song, that came to mind. So you began to hum the intro to it. But after some time, the hums became soft singing, and that morphed into singing that you were rather proud of. Usually, it would take time for you to warm up to someone before you sang in front of them, let alone an all star musician. But, you were so sure that Murdoc was asleep, that you didn't mind. "I'll pay...when tomorrow..."
"Tomorrow comes today."
You slammed your foot down on the break, with thankfully no one behind you. "WOAH WOAH LUV! EYE ON' THE ROAD, MIND ON THA' ROAD!" You nodded frantically, slowing moving your foot from the break onto the gas. "I'm sorry... you scared me... you..." you paused and felt your face turn as hot pink as the setting sun. "You we're awake." You stated, rather than asking like you had intended. Murdoc nodded and sat up. He stretched his arms out in front of him and let out a small grunt. "Yah' have a lovely voice, (y/n). Why are yah' red? You should be eh... confident! Roight?" You shrugged and let hair fall over your cheeks so he wouldn't see your bright red complexion. "Th-thank you. It's just, I'm not confident. Y'know? I'm not nearly as bold as you." You hissed teasingly. Without warning, Murdoc slapped your upper thigh, causing many conflicting emotions for you to form. "We'll work on yah confidence in the new band, eh? Think I found someone worthy of bein' in it!" Your heart beat escalated, and not just because Murdoc was keeping his hand on your thigh much longer than you thought he would. "Are you fuckin' serious?" You asked, trying not to make a fool out of yourself in front of him. "'Course I am, luv! And if you can play guitar good, which ah'll be findin' out on tha' ship, then you can by all means choose what to do, or do both... or neither." He grumbled the last part, sliding his hand off of your leg.
"You mean, if I didn't want to be in a band?"
"I mean, yeah. Can't really force yah. That hasn't always worked out for tha' best as you can tell..."
