The cold, salty ocean air blew against your face a dried your icy tears as soon as they hit the bottom of your cheeks. You continued to let in and out deep breaths as the night went on, your only company being the moon and the star decorated sky. Half of you wished that Murdoc would come out chasing after you, arms wide open, waiting for your warm embrace, while the other half hoped to truly be left alone to think. But, there was really nothing to think about. There was no longer anything to consider. You had already given your life away for something you thought would be better. More specifically, for someone you thought would be better. You rolled your eyes and looked down at your arms. You couldn't turn back now, things were still going to go as planned. There was just going to be a hell of a lot of tension between you and your band mate. You tossed your head back and looked up at the stars. When you were younger, you used to hope and pray for a shooting star to dance across the sky, so you could wish for a better life or a puppy. And oddly, you found yourself doing the same thing again, after about ten years. But rather than wishing for a better life or a furry friend, you were wishing that this night had never happened. You searched the sky for just a single opportunity for your night to get reversed, but gave up soon enough. It had only been about five minutes, but it already felt like forever.
You looked back out at the large, deep ocean, your eyes beginning to slowly shut. Your breathing slowed and your tears stopped. You were finally at peace.
But that peace was broken once you heard the loud thud of boots coming your way.
Your eyes opened quickly, and your stomach tied itself into a knot. You refused to look to your side, though. You already knew it was Murdoc. Most likely coming to ask you to apologize for shouting. But you weren't about to say sorry for his own mistakes. You turned your head to the other side defiantly, staring out over at the reflection of the moon. "(Y/n), doll, look..." He began to speak to you even before he was close enough for you to fully hear. "Don't." You mumbled, giving him a side glance. He was soon by your side, his hands tucked into his front pockets. The moonlight highlighted his cheek bones and broken nose. You huffed steam from your nose like an enraged dragon, and gave him the satisfaction and turned around to face him. You crossed you arms and cocked an eyebrow, looking at him, but not looking into his eyes. "Ah'm sorry." He whispered, his lips remaining parted as the words left his mouth and fell to the floor. You squinted and adjusted your position a bit, standing straight up rather than leaning against the railing. "Are you really?" You questioned, your voice cracking again, despite how hard you were trying to remain strong. He took a few more steps towards you, eliminating space. "I am. It was dumb of me ta' keep teasin' you like that. Ah' didn't think you actually cared."
"Of course I cared. I thought it was obvious how I..." You paused mid sentence and shook your head. You looked down and bit your bottom lip. "Whatever, Murdoc. It's okay." He extended his arm out towards you, and you glanced up at him. He had a soft, gentle smile on his face. The smile that made your heart melt. He slid his hand beneath your chin and gently tilted your head up just as he had done before. "I know et's not okay. So ah'm 'ere to make things right." The sound of the waves crashing into the boat created a kind of soothing melody, and the cold air grew hot as it hit the side of your face. "Tha' thing that's prettier than the damned view it you." The light from the moon bounced off of the water and struck his cheeks, revealing the pink tones that flooded across his face. You dropped your arms down to your sides and pushed them tight against your body, but Murdoc was quick to move your right arm away by shifting his hand onto your hip, moving your body closer to his. Now, there was the least amount of space between the two of you that there ever has been.
"I..." But you were unable to speak. Murdoc crashed his lips into yours.
You were shocked. You lifted your arms up, not knowing what to do with them. His eyes closed as soon as his lips collided with yours, and his slowly moved his left hand from your chin down to your left arm, and lifted it up to his shoulder. You mimicked this with your right arm, pulling yourself closer into him by pulling on his hair gently. His lips danced on yours, and you whole body was engulfed in flames. Your eyes closed slowly and gently as you began to kiss back, running your fingers up through the back of his hair and pressing your body against his. He broke the kiss for a moment to catch his breath, and then went right back in. He moved his right left hand from your arm down to your other hip, and from there he began to explore your body, moving his hands down to your ass to pull you against him even closer. You pulled on his hair harder as he did, a small moan escaping his mouth. Your lips parted a bit, giving him a window to slide his tongue into your mouth, and he did. Your face somehow managed to heat up more as his did so, your heart beating faster than it ever had before.
And then you broke the kiss.
Keeping your body pressed against his, your arms resting on his neck and your fingers running through his hair. "Murdoc I..." He removed his right hand from your ass and pressed his index finger against your lips. "(Y/n). I really do care about'cha. And I... really do like you. I 'ave. Ever since I realized how lovely ya' are back in that coffee shop." A smile found its way onto your face, and you pulled him into a hug. "The feelings mutual." You whispered, holding him close. He ran his hands over your back and pulled you back, smooching your forehead. "'ow about we go back to the room and get some rest, eh?" You took a deep breath in through your nose and nodded. "Good idea."
Once back to the room, Murdoc turned off the main light and switched on a small lamp on the nightstand beside his bed. "It's uh, pretty cold in 'ere." He mumbled, awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck. You sat down at the foot of your bed and looked over at him. "Yeah..." you dragged on, knowing what he was so bluntly trying to suggest. "Mind if we eh, share ah' bed, luv? I don't bite! I promise." You snorted and giggled a bit, rising to your feet and walking over to the side of your bed. "I don't see why not." He grinned and hopped in next to you, urging you to scoot over to the side against the wall. You threw the sheets over you and reached down, unbuttoning your shorts, sliding them off, and tossing them over onto the floor. Murdoc paused getting in and cleared his throat. You looked up at him, his face bright red. "What?" You asked, a smirk plastered on your face. "UH, oh, nothin'." He mumbled, taking off his jacket, shirt and jeans and sliding beneath the sheets next to you. Just in his boxers, he kept his distance, rolling over and facing the other way. You bit your bottom lip and did the same, turning to face the wall.
Just as you were about to sleep, Murdoc interrupted. "Hey eh... mind if I uh..." He was stuttering and nervous. How cute. "Yeeess, Murdoc?" You replied. trying to keep from laughing. "What ef' I... go ova' there and hold'cha close? F-For warmth!" Your heart sunk down to your stomach. "Sure."
He rolled over and you felt him move closer to you. He suddenly wrapped his arm around you, pulling you close against him. His legs wrapping around yours soon after. You were speechless. He let out a sigh and pressed his lips gently against your neck, shivers flooding your body. "G'night, (y'n)." He whispered, his warn breath hitting the back of your neck. You smiled and held your hands close to your chest.
"Good night, Murdoc."
