After an hour or so of playing and singing various songs by different bands and singers, Murdoc set the guitar down and rested it up against the nightstand next to you. You rhythmically patted your thighs and cleared your throat. "What now?" You asked, scanning the room for ideas. Murdoc shrugged and let himself fall backwards, causing the bed to rock a bit. You looked over and down at him and did the same, landing next to him. You placed one hand over your chest and the other down by your side, while Murdoc folded his arms behind his head. He looked up at the roof and let out a sigh through his nose. "Eh, can we nap? Ah'm actually pretty damned tired." You looked over at him, and then back up at the roof. "Sure I guess. But I'll probably stay up. I'm not all that sleepy." You replied. "In that case," he began, turning his head to the side and looking at you, "please sit up and put'cha back against the headboard. Oh! And please criss cross ya' legs." You contemplated listening to his directions for a moment, and then decided that there was nothing better to do anyway.
You sat up and scooted back on the bed, getting into a comfortable position by setting up pillows on either side of you and a pillow behind you for support. You then criss crossed your legs like he asked, and waited for him to explain why he wanted you to do so. Murdoc flipped over on his side, using his right arm to prop his head up. "Can't believe ya' actually did it! Great! Ah've needed this..." You were confused, but didn't know how to go about it. He thought you knew what he wanted, and you didn't want to make it awkward by asking. So you didn't.
Murdoc cleared his throat and sat up, faced the other way, and dropped down into your lap. Out of shock, you lifted your arms and hands up, not knowing what else to do with them. Murdoc placed his hands over his chest and looked up at you through his shaggy bangs. He smiled softly, his shark like teeth showing a bit. You slowly lowered your arms, a bit shaky. You placed your elbows on the pillows next to you, and began to run your fingers through his slightly tangled hair. He cooed and slowly shut his eyes at your soft touch. Your face heat up to a hundred degrees. You shifted beneath him a bit, his head not resting comfortably on your thighs at first. You noticed that his chest was starting to rise and fall slower, indicating that you were managing to calm him and aid his sleep. Which made you happy. It was a weird sense of happiness, though. One that made your heart warm, and your stomach swarm with butterflies. You hadn't ever felt this type of glee, but it was a good feeling nonetheless. Murdoc opened his eyes again and looked up at you. He raised his eyebrows, lifting his bangs off of his face a bit, signaling that you were a little too consumed by your thoughts, and you hadn't been playing with his hair. "Oh, uh, sorry." You mumbled awkwardly, not wanting to ruin this moment.
You went back to running your fingers through his hair, scraping his scalp, and occasionally tugging gently on his hair which would make him purr. You watched as his eyes slowly shut once again, a smile creeping onto your face. You couldn't help but smile when you looked at him in this state. He looked like a different man from the one you had met. Different from the womanizer on the posters and on television, and you liked this man far more than the other one. You felt your eyes start to get heavy as you watched his chest rise and fall with every peaceful breath he took. He turned his head to the side, your fingers following it. He was either asleep, or very close to being asleep. But you continued to play with his hair regardless. Although eventually, you allowed your hand to slip from his hair down to his shoulder. And it was at that moment, with his cheek resting on your thigh and your hand on his shoulder, that you felt at peace.
You were suddenly much more tired than you had been when he first requested the two of you nap. You could feel yourself drift off to sleep, and you gladly let it happen. You slid down a bit, careful not to disrupt Murdoc. The only sounds in the room were Murdocs deep breaths and the sound of the waves gently rocking the cruise ship back and forth. You let your eyelids fall over your eyes, just as Murdoc had. And then you were asleep.
---
You woke up to Murdoc gently pulling on the sleeve of your - his - shirt. "(Y/n), get up. Et's gettin' dark out. We should go n' look around now." You opened one eye and looked over at him. He has your hoodie folded in his arms and his leather jacket on. He looked like he had gotten up far before you and showered, or something. He looked cleaner than you remembered. His hair was slicked back a bit, and you could finally get a full and clear view of his eyes. They were lovely and full of excitement as they met with yours. You ran your fingers through your hair and yawned. "Alright... sure. Let me wake up a bit, first. That was a heavy nap," you snickered, leaning over and rubbing your eyes. Murdoc sat down on his bed next to you and placed a hand on your knee. You quickly uncovered your eyes and looked to him, your face already starting to heat up. His lips parted slightly, and your heart dropped to your stomach.
"It's probably gettin' ah' bit chilly out, hon. Wear ya' jacket."
Deep down, you were wishing he had said something different.
"O-Oh! Yeah, thank you." You reached out and awkwardly grabbed your jacket from him and then proceeded to unfold it and put it on over the Gorillaz shirt. "Welp, ah'm ready when you are." He said with a smile. You smiled back and slung your legs over his bed. You turned to face him before getting up. "Ready."
