I push myself as hard as I can, running as though my life depends on it.
It actually does, which is the messed up thing.
My left leg threatens to give out with every step. Blood flows down it and stains the ground, making it even harder to lose my pursuer. It's agonising to run on my injured leg, but I have to.
As I mentioned previously, my life depends on it.
His footsteps and laboured breathing make my heart pound in my ears. I turn a corner and pull myself through a window, slowing my chaser. I'm thankful for the precious few metres it gives me on him, although I can still hear him chasing me.

An axe suddenly connects with my back, sending me sprawling to the ground.
"FUCK!" I curse loudly.
My chaser smirks down at me. "You didn't really think you'd escape, did you?"
