The stone slab began to shake and rumble, the fishes around us never moved to get away, the Koi also stayed where they were, in front of my face watching me with beady white and black eyes.
"You best stay calm, child and don't fight it."
"Fight wha-"
Before I could finish my question The slab suddenly separated and suddenly, I felt myself being sucked into it, falling deeper bellow the surface of the pool.
However the inside of the gate was different than the the pool. There was no water yet I felt myself drifting calmly within it.
I found myself looking up where I previously was standing. The fish all were staring down at me while the Koi circulated the spot I once was standing. It was quiet strange looking in my point of view. It was as if a very detailed artist had decided to paint a mural upon the ceiling and allowed the art work to come the life using the most vibrant shades of color. Stunning and breath taking all at the same time.
I took the time to look down into my surrounding and was astonished to see what awaited below me.
The inside of the seemingly separate world was enchanting. I found myself looking over a meadow that stretched for miles and trees huddling in the distance. A small creek and larger streams alike, babbled underneath bridges connecting land to one another while tiny fish played within its waters. There were even a family of deer lapping at a stream closets to me. The mother and child carelessly drank the water, as the strong father looked up towards me but instead of running from the sight of me he proceeded to lap the water with his family.
I looked up to the sky that hung over, and was amazed to discover large islands floating with the clouds as they emptied water from on their masses, into the streams which flowed below. Birds flew near me and other creatures that I have never seen fly the skies. Some looked like mixtures of fish and birds, while others looked to be a sort of flying salamanders. Each creature went around me, not caring of what I was, but went about there business.
Slowly, I floated within the middle of one of the lakes, until I finally touched it surface with my bare feet. Instead of sinking underneath, I found myself standing on the cool glass like waters with no problems. I noticed within the waters how small fish began to swim joyously around my feet and some even kiss the soles of them and swim away.
I looked up once more to the gate that was still open overhead.
The Koi had finally stopped there circulation and looked down at me with interest shining in there eyes. Then they began to swim down until they were no longer within the waters of the pools, but within the skies of this new world. They proceed to float down towards me as if they were still swimming within the pool. Above them the spirit gate began to close while the fish proceeded to look down at us. It was as if the small creatures were sending their encouragement of success.
The Koi skillfully continued towards me paying no mind to the creature flying overhead. However when the Koi passed by them, the flying creatures did not simply go around them as they had done to me, but they stopped flying as if giving the Koi the respect they deserved as the fish had done in the pool.
Even in this world the Koi are seen as powerful beings.
The closer the Koi was to ground level, the more the gate closed. The powerful duo payed no mind to that however and continued downward until they were eye level to me.
The gate finally shut, leaving us inside to train under a new sky.
"Are you ready young one?"
The Koi began to float around me in a sway of sort, as if following an imaginary wave. I quickly noticed the Koi were bigger than what they were within the pool. They now were at least thirty- six inches long in body, meaning they now were longer than my torso.
