Carefully Tarrah, Rion and I made our down the stairs, aware of every little step we made. We descended the stairs, not finding a single guard which made us even more on high alert. It felt as though we were being watched even though I knew it was only our paranoia.
Moments of eerie silence went about until we heard the soft sway of music. At first, I believed I was just hearing things, but soon the music grew louder as we venture further down the stairs.
By the time we had managed to reach the bottom of the castle stairs all of us heard the music playing through the long hallway at the bottom
Cautiously we followed the sound down the stairwell and to a gigantic ballroom.
Hiding out of sight we noticed, there were many creatures dancing and joyously swaying to the music. We also saw that many of the guards were within the room as well however they mingled with the guess and one another. Everyone wore a mask and beautiful elaborate outfits only seen on the rich and powerful.
I looked around more and noticed on the far end of the ballroom I saw my book set on a throne, and surprisingly enough my pouch was with it. He was not in sight, possibly dancing amongst the people.
I tried once more to claim it by teleporting it to me. When that didn't work I then tried to levitate it towards me, but that also failed.
Giving up on trying to use magick to get it, I pointed towards my book and both Rion and Tarrah followed my finger.
"So how are we suppose to get it."
This came from Rion, who no doubt was thinking of a strategy.
I thought for a moment, "If we sneak within we may be spotted, however, if we merge with the crowd we have a better chance of getting the book unseen."
Rion nodded but Tarrah stared at me confused.
"Ame if you haven't noticed we would stick out like a sore thumb."
"I can use my illusion spell to make us appear we're also guest."
Tarrah looked unsure but agreed anyway.
I studied the people swaying within the room, then began to mumbled the spell I remembered for illusions then focused on Tarrah first.
Her clothing was replaced with an attire fitting for the event, leaving her in a beautiful cream colored dress with black designs and a black and cream mask that resembled the face of a fox.
I turned my attention to Rion and did the same thing. I replaced his clothing with a tan camlet with brown pants, a dark brown cape that hung to the knees with a brown and black mask that resembled that of a wolf.
When the spell was done they looked to one another and marveled at their new attire.
"That should work but if anyone realizes that your outfit is just an illusion the spell will break so be careful. However you guys shouldn't have to worry, the spell is strong enough to where the fabric itself feels real and sways like regular clothing."
Tarrah took the bottom of her ballroom dress and swayed it back and forth emphasizing my point.
Rion looked up and smiled,
"So does this spell only work until midnight too."
I rolled my eyes and ignored his sarcastic remark.
"You both need to dance with one another to try and sneak to the throne and retrieve the book."
Tarrah raised her hand slightly.
"Why do we have to dance anyway, wouldn't it be easier if we were to just wait here while you get it and act as a lookout or could help if needed."
