"Now how far did you say this place is?" I asked her interrupting her singing along to Farmer's Daughter.
She stopped singing and thought for a second, "Well I thought it was about two hours?"
"Oh okay, just wandering because I'm almost out of gas and I need to find somewhere soon. Where is the nest town?"
"I should be about 10 minutes or so, I think." She said and started singing again right as the song ended. I was kind of getting worried now because the gas was on E and we still had to go for 10 minutes. The next song came on the radio was It's Your Love by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. She started singing right from the beginning, she didn't miss one word. I would turn and look at her and she would turn and start singing to me in a goofy country voice, but I still loved every second of it. Then she got real close like she was going to kiss me so I kind of leaned over a bit, but as soon as I did she would turn away and she would give me this goofy look, then she goes back to dramatically singing It's Your Love.
Nine minutes later we made it to the small town of Willis where we stopped and got gas. I was seriously getting nervous about making it here. I filled up my tank then had to go pay inside. As we were walking inside there was a man who looked like we wanted to punch something staring at us sitting on a bench outside the gas station. We ignored his and walked in quickly. Blair went in to use the restroom and I went up to the counter and paid. The gas station was kind of sketchy. It had beer adds on the windows and when you went inside it looked more like a liquor store then a gas station. The lady at the desk didn't look to pleasant either, she was one of those ladies who you could tell that in there younger ages were bikers. She had a tooth missing too, right in top front.
"You from around here?" the lady asked me.
"No."
"Yeah you don't look like it, neither is that girl I assume?"
"Nope."
"Well I'm just warning you, that man you probably saw out there, he is no good. He might try to steal your car, or maybe even your girl, who knows. Just, you should probably get out of here. We tell him to get off of this property or we will call the cops. One time we did, he came back five days later. I don't know what to do about him, so just be careful alright." She told me right as Blair came back.
"Alright thanks for letting me know." I said.
We walked outside and Blair asked me what she was talking about. As we were headed to the car I turned around to see the man get up and start walking toward us. "Blair get in and lock the door."
"What?"
"Just do it." I ran around to the drivers side.
"Hey kid! Mind if we have a chat for a minute?" said the guy.
I turned and around and looked as he was getting closer. "No, I can't talk I have to get somewhere." I said panicking and reaching for the door. By this time I hadn't noticed he had already got to my side of the truck and was coming towards me.
"I just want to talk." He said and I closed the door on him. That obviously didn't make him happy because he opened the door. I tried to shut it but he was strong. He repeated himself, "I just want to talk." Then he pulled me out of the truck with little effort. I heard Blair scream and Sarge give a small bark. I then did something I haven't done since my bad days, I punched him. Right in the jaw. Oh did that make him mad. He got out of the truck and took a swing at me and hit me in the nose. I didn't feel anything though, it was all adrenalin. He pushed me up against my truck and started giving me punches to the gut.
