Normal POV

As Alfred was telling her to push and doing all the things a doctor would do to get her through the birthing process, Batman and Joker were still standing off to the side.

"Doesn't it make you feel bad you aren't trying to make her more comfortable?" Batman asked him.

"Nah, It's funny seeing her in pain haha" Joker laughed.

"You're either sadistic or really hate her." Batman noticed.

"It's both of those things."

Alfred had announced to them that the baby's head was showing, just a couple more pushes and the baby would be here.

The baby came out safely and healthy, "It's a girl!" Alfred said happily.

He immediately noticed something wrong with Harley's heart rate monitor, he quickly wrapped the baby in a towel and handed her to Batman.

"Oh dear... It seems she had an over endurance of stress from the birthing process and her heart is giving out from the pain."

Alfred tried doing everything he could, but to no avail Harley's heart gave out and the heart monitor line went flat.

"I... I'm sorry... she died.." The room went silent for a couple of seconds.

"You did everything you could Al, it'll be ok, we'll figure this out..." Batman reassured.

Alfred took the baby girl and went to go clean her off. Batman went and put a hand on Joker's shoulder.

"I'm sorry Joker..."

"It's not like anyone saw this coming anyway..." Joker walked up to the bed her dead body was resting on, "All the times I beat you and tortured you and you die because of a baby?... Weakling." Joker kicked the bed and walked away.

Batman thought that was pretty harsh because you think someone would grieve over the loss of the mother of their child but what did he really expect from the Joker.

Alfred walked back in holding the baby, she was all cleaned, wrapped in a soft baby blanket, and had a pacifier in her mouth. He handed her to Joker since he was the father.

"I am going to make sure Harley has proper burial plans, you two need to discuss what happens with the baby now since she doesn't have a mother." Alfred said walking away.

As Joker held the baby in his arms he felt very in love, "She has my green eyes," he smiled, "I know there's no way for it to be possible but it looks like she has your jet black hair puffing up on her head."

Batman also smiled, he had never seen anything more adorable or heartwarming than seeing the man he loved getting so giddy over his little girl.

"So did you have a name picked out for her?" Batman asked.

"If the baby was a girl Harley wanted to name her Lucy, she really liked that name."

"That's cute, what about a middle name though?"

"Oh.. We never thought of a middle name.."

"Do you think maybe her middle name could be Martha?.." Batman suggested.

"Why Martha?"

"It was my mother's name.."

Joker looked up at him, "That's really sweet, yeah I'll use your mom's name."

"What were your plans on raising the kid?"

"Well one thing's for sure, I'm not raising this thing on my own. I wasn't made for the fathering thing, especially not on my own."

"First of all don't keep calling your baby a thing, she's a beautiful little girl and secondly I had an idea.." Batman put an arm around Joker.

"And what were you thinking?..." Joker was curious.

"I still believe every child deserves two parents that love them very much to raise them. Lucy here doesn't have her mother now... So what if I adopted her as her second parent and we raise her together. I don't mind adopting, I adopted Dick, so I don't think it would make me any less of a parent."

Joker stopped him from saying anymore, "Woah woah wait... To get you back all I had to do was kill Harley? You should've told me that nine months ago Batsy."

"No, I don't believe in killing and that would've made very angry you would even think about doing that. She died because her body couldn't handle pregnancy which is a more natural cause that can happen to anybody. It's complicated to explain but I would be willing to raise your child with you and I want you back because I never stopped loving you, I was just trying to do what was right before."

"I want her to have your last name." Joker smiled at him.

"Why my last name?"

"I said this before Batsy, I don't fully remember my past or who I was. I don't know whatever my last name is. But if you're her parent too she can have your last name, maybe even keep your little Wayne company going when she's older."

"Lucy Martha Wayne? It sounds pretty, I love it." Batman kissed him passionately knowing this time they really would be together forever.

"By the way Batsy, I have some questions I would like to ask you," Joker said handing Lucy back to Alfred to take care of her while they had a moment alone, "We were separated for months at a time, did you date anybody else while I wasn't around?"

Batman thought for a moment, "Oh, I took Catwoman on one date to finally give it a chance but it ended with her smacking me in the face and saying not to call her again."

"So it ended pretty bad? What happened?"

"I wouldn't stop talking about you."

They both giggled, "Also how do you ever expect Lucy to live a normal life? We even keep our relationship a secret from all of Gotham, so nobody can know we are raising a baby together either."

"Well... We will have to send her to a private school when she's older like I did with Dick or we'll have to homeschool her." Batman replied.

"The private school seems best, I'm gonna need alone time with my Batsy boo haha" Joker wiggled his eyebrows and hugged him tightly.

"So how about we go pick up baby supplies and set up a nursery and I'll give Dick a call telling him he has a sister now."

"What a romantic comedy kind of perfect ending haha." he joked.

They had each other again and their own little family now, Joker and Batman both look at their lives and thought nothing could possibly be better than this.
