Goodbye. Again.

It came. Like I knew it was going to. Thursday rolled around, unwanted. Dreaded. It was never easy saying goodbye to anyone when you were leaving, but this was the worst. I'd said goodbye to him once before and that was tough, but this, this was a whole new feeling.

"are you sure I can't drive you to the airport Victoria?" he asked for the hundredth time. I smiled as we walked through the hotel lobby. "I'm sure Nico" I answered him, standing at the curb. I turned and looked up at his sad face. "you haven't packed and you're at the airport later yourself. You wouldn't have time" I said, knowing it just as well as he did. "besides, if you did it'd be harder to leave you." I said, sighing as I felt those large hands slide onto my hips. "I could just kidnap you and solve all our problems" he grinned. I chuckled, sliding my palms up his chest. "or you could just come and fly around the world with me" he said, and not for the first time either. I looked away from his gaze briefly. "maybe one day Nico" I blushed, really not thinking it would ever get that serious. I mean I'd love it to, but we were so young, we didn't know where each others careers were going to take us. Not that I didn't get excited about flying around the world with him, being there at every race. Being with him more. Just that alone had me ready to sign my resignation papers with my management.

The rumble of the taxi brought me back from my thoughts. I turned to glance over my shoulder, seeing the driver pop the trunk. Nico didn't hesitate to put my suitcase in, then return to me. "be safe." he sighed, looking into my eyes. "I will" I nodded biting back the tears. "this is much harder than last time" I sighed, "I know" he said, raising his hand up to slide his thumb over my cheek. "I mean, I'd not had you in my bed then, now I have, so I know what I'm missing" I teased, trying desperately to lighten the mood before I broke. Nico chuckled at my silliness. "I love you" he whispered, that smile making my heart flutter. I bit my lip and smiled, "I love you too Nico" I replied, hearing the taxi driver honking his horn somewhere behind me. "I guess I better go" I said, nico nodding at me. "please call me when you get home" he said, walking to open the car door. I nodded. "England seems so far from Monaco" I sighed, "but new york is even farther"
"don't remind me" I groaned. "well I am always at the end of the phone" he said, with a slight smile. I returned it and nodded. "this week has been awesome" he added, making me blush. "I will see you soon beautiful" he told me, pulling me in for a kiss. "see you soon" I whispered, pulling away. Our eyes lingered on each other for a few moments, then I moved away and into the car without turning back.

I closed the door and buckled up. The driver muttering about being late to take me to the airport. I didn't care. I was leaving my new little world right there on the side of the road. Again. I hated goodbyes.
