Chapter 5

***Brayden' POV***

We were loaded up into the big blue van we came in. The guy that kidnapped us isn't bring as forceful as before, and he's concentrating on something. I didn't know what he could've been so focused on. He wouldn't tell us where we were going until we got up to the main highway.

"You're going home today." he said looking back at us. He doesn't look impressed, but who cares? You can't please everybody! And then I began to panic.

"What about Adrianna? Where is she?" I screamed at him in fury. I was far past the stage of furious. My girl should be right here in the van with me. I should be able to hold her hand and tell her that we'll be okay. I can't, though.

"She won't be coming home. I made her a deal that if she stays with me, then you kids can go home. If you tell anyone about me, though, she will be killed instantly. I don't care what you tell people but don't tell them about me. Deal?"

The world around me started to go fuzzy and I needed to rest my hand on the side. Adrianna had to stay with this idiot while the rest of us got to go home to our familys. It's beyond unfair. What if one of the girls decided to tell? Then she'd have to pay the price! Adrianna was too damn brave for her own good.

I wouldn't tell, but I did know the area where he lived. I could get rid of him myself. And save my Adrianna...

***Adrianna's POV***

After they left, my life began to change drastically. Salvatore proposed and I thought my only chance of survival was to say yes. What else could I have done? Nothing.

He wasn't such a bad guy once you looked past the kidnapping. Angela told me the only reason he does the kidnappings was so that he could find someone to love him. I felt bad, in a way, that he had to go to such extreme measures to find someone. He must've been a lonely person, just needing someone to be around.

One night he took me to the balcony to sit with him. He wanted to apologize to me about the kidnapping and how he's treated me since. I didn't know what to say to that so I just nodded. He acted like he really was sorry, he just needed someone. I understood that. I didn't like it, but it was understandable.

Before me and Brayden started dating, I was the desperate little girl who'd do anything to look cool in front of a guy. It was different with Brayden because he seemed so distant from everyone. He barely talked, so, of course it was a surprise when he asked me to be his girlfriend.

I was so happy a cute guy like him would ask me out that I forgot about all the other guys. When I got to know him better I found out that he was a great guy. It wasn't long before the whole town knew we were dating. I was proud to have him.

I think that's what Salvatore is like. He just wants to be cared about. I don't think he'd hurt me now. Even if I said no. He's a nice enough guy. I'm glad I said yes because he seems a little more relaxed now, more loose. I think he even smiled at me!

But I always thought it would be Brayden that I married...

I twirled around in the beautiful sun dress Salvatore bought me. It sparkled and swayed with my body, making me look as pretty as the dress. It was the most beautiful thing I had seen in a long time. I just twirled, loving the feel of the fabric flying through the breeze.

"Thank you so much!" I squealed. He smiled and chuckled.

"Well I'm glad you're happy because that's your wedding dress." I stopped for a second remembering why I was with him and not at home doing housework.

"I'm so happy! It's absolutely gorgeous!" I said and twirled again.

"Well you are what you wear." he laughed again and played with my hair like Brayden used to.

He was sweet. Maybe a little broken and crazy, but it's not his fault, it's his parents. They should've held onto him, because he was truly a great man. He just needed guidance.

Angela showed me how to do my hair every morning and now I know exactly how to do it. Salvatore likes that I made an effort and rewarded me with a puppy.

I named her Luna. She's a golden lab with a pink bow in her hair. Sometimes me and Salvatore take her for walks on the beach because I need to get out. The odd time me and Luna swim is a real treat. The water was warm and refreshing, and it was almost like it had been when I went swimming with my friends.

Life isn't bad. In fact, in some ways it's better. But there's someone I can't forget...

Brayden.

Our wedding was quiet. Only Angela and Luna were there to witness the ring exchange. I wore my beautiful white sundress and Salvatore wore a suit. We actually looked very good together. The way his arm held mine, so delicate.

He smiled the whole way through the exchange. We didn't do vows or anything like that, or even have to listen to the long speech that usually bores people to death. All it was, was a quick ceremony, then we dug out our swimming suits and jumped into the lake side by side. It was actually very fun, swimming in our clothes.

Angela stayed over to hang out with me and Salvatore. We've become pretty good friends. Angela Kettle. When she told me her last name, I recognized it. "Angela Kettle?" I asked.

She nodded and looked at Salvatore for permission to continue. He let her. "My father was murdered three years ago. I was the prime suspect, but I was let off once I found an alibi. No one trusted me, though, so I ran away. I was all over the news for a whole year so I moved to the other side of the lake across from Salvatore. I finally began to fit in again. We're family, pretty much, so we trusted each other."

It came back to me, the headline, I mean. "Kettle Runs From Crimes." They claimed that she ran because she really was guilty. I believed she ran because she was scared - I was partly right.

"It's okay Angela. I believe you didn't do it." she smiled and hugged me.

I'm surrounded by criminals and runaways. I couldn't help but feel scared. Happy, but scared.
