Chapter 13

I watched the kids play on the beach with their big sister. Ella was so good with them. I was proud of my family. I had an amazing husband who protected me and listened when I needed it most. He was truly amazing. I had a seven year old daughter named Ella, who has been through so much and still finds it in her heart to be gentle. And then there were the twins. My youngest children; Mike and Melissa. They were both incredibly sweet and cute.

Mike looked exactly like his father. From his dark brown hair, to his perfectly white smile. He was my little boy. Never was he one to stir up drama, and he was 100% independent, a model child.

Melissa had her fathers hair, only, it was long and wavy. I loved her hair because it didn't matter what time of day it was, it always stayed perfect. And her green and blue eyes were as unique as a fingerprint. I had never seen anyone with eyes like her. She was beautiful. Just like her big sister, even though they had little in common.

I watched as my family jumped off the dock and into the cold lake. Colton was holding onto the twins and making sure that they were safe. He wanted so badly to teach them how to swim. I didn't let him until recently, in fear that they would drown. I didn't want a reenactment of the day I almost lost Ella in the boat. I knew I wouldn't be able to handle that. But I finally gave in because if they could swim, then I wouldn't have to worry about them around water. That, and Colton wanted to teach them more than anything. He was an amazing father.

My mind wandered to the last time I was here without Colton. When Brayden and Salvatore had been here. A shudder ran through me. I hadn't seen Brayden since. Everyone knew where he was now, though.

Up on the mountain close to the next city, there had been sightings of smoke coming out of the chimney at his parents old cabin. No one bothered him because Colton had told a lie for me. He said that Brayden was on his own personal journey trying to find his "inner self." It was hard not to laugh at the cheesy idea. But it was a lie to keep me away from him, so I didn't complain.

My family was safe now...weren't we? With Brayden and Sal out of the way, things had to settle down.

***Brayden's POV***

Yeah, I left town. There was nothing left for me there. I mean, the only reason I stayed there in the first place was for Adrianna. But she totally ditched me for, of all people, her kidnapper! I loved her. How could she humiliate me like that?

So I moved. The cabin I'm living in is beautiful. It has silk curtains, feather pillows, and satellite TV. I don't watch it though, because Adrianna is always being interviewed. It hurts too much to watch how well she remade her life. For some reason, Colton's always with her. Maybe he's just keeping an eye on her for me. He has always been my best friend.

And about Adrianna, I think she would've chose me if she didn't have to worry about that brat Ella. I have a hate on for the kid. I know she's only seven, but it's her fault Adrianna didn't choose me. She was the only real connection between Adri and that scumbag Salvatore... Why isn't he in jail?

Adrianna's POV

I drop the kids off at school and drive to Kelsee's house. Kelsee is Colton's cousin. I met her at our wedding, (this time I had a real one) and we became best friends. I haven't forgot about Chrissy! But she's more like a sister than a best friend.

"Hey girlie!" Kelsee calls from the porch located at the side of the house. She comes running around and smothers me in a hug.

"Hey Kels! How is everyone?" I ask. Her daughter, Julia, has been a little bit sick and Mya, her baby, is spending the week with her father.
