Dear Monday,
Thanks for having the word "mon" in you. From the time I lived in France for 5 years I have come to learn that "Mon" is french for "mine", in case some of you guys weren't aware. Its pretty sad that you get a lot of hate because you are at the very beginning of the week. However, to me, it makes me think of you more as "my day", and frankly that sounds like a much more promising start of the week.
Sincerely,
Me
But today I was dreading you, especially this particular morning. Monday morning today was going to be my first day at school, making me the new kid.
I walked through the doors of the high school and immediately I felt those eyes on me. This wasn't the audition i had signed up where I wanted to be the star or main attention but I guess I had to play the part.
I pulled the little slip from my pocket and walked over to my designated locker and placed the combination and grabbed the books for my first class that were placed in there already.
The bell went off and I entered the class stated on my schedule after it took nearly 20 minutes to find. You would have thought that they would give you a tour guide, but I guess not.
"You must be the new girl," the teacher asked, "Class this is miss Rose Lovett, why don't you take a seat over there."
I quickly walked over to my seat in the back. The teacher walked through with a huge stalk of paper nearly making everyone in the class groan. He was handing out those quiz with pride as everyone just annoyed. Some were afraid.
"Okay class, clear your desks," he declared.
He handed a stack of papers to the people in the front and instructed people in the front to pass it back. My eyes followed the trail of paper till it landed on the desk right in front of mine. The boy grabbed a paper and began writing.
"Um excuse me, could you just pass one to me?"
"There isn't one for you?" he murmured back.
"But-"
"You may begin," the teacher said walking back towards me with a copy of the book in his hand, "Ms. Lovett, we are currently reading "The Outsiders"
....
I walked out of the class pleased with the fact that we would be reading a book that I had read twenty times over. I continued to look over the over that I didn't realize until after the fact I bumped into someone.
My papers that were my guide to having a smooth ride through sophomore year was now scatter in disarray. My eyes followed a pair of hands that were picking up my papers. Sleeved bulging biceps flexing every bend in which he would stack the papers together slowly traveling up to a broad shoulder and face.
It was a boy, but of course with his arms, it has better been a boy. But he had beautiful chocolate brown hair with sea blue -green eyes. A blue with strikingly large amount of gold around the pupil.Aquamarine blue eyes are clear, piercing blue-green and are very striking...
"Hello!"
"Sorry," I stated shaking my head out of it.
"I said you must be the new girl that everyone is talking about."
"I have only been here for an hour and a half and I'm already the main topic?"
"Trust me, it isn't anything bad. They are actually calling you a golden barbie ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) and they weren't lying about that."
"Thanks...the name is Rose Lovett,"
"I'm Jeff Atkins."
He added and I smiled at him gently.
He was my first friend.
