"Rose stop!" Jeff yelled as I pushed the door to Rosie's diner seeing Hannah shaking in the corner of her booth as Marcus got up from the ground and looked at her.
"Aye, what the fuck!" Marcus yelled at Hannah.
"You watch your fucking mouth asshole!" I yelled back as I was making my way towards him.
"Oh shit is that Rose!" one of the jocks yelled out of shock.
"Damn, I didn't know the nerd had balls!" Zack said calmly.
"Stay out of this Rose," Marcus said, "It's not like you can't do anything anyways."
"Let's put that theory to the test, dick," I stated as I slowly stalked my way towards him as his friends were hyping the situation up. Marcus looked at Hannah and then back towards me.
"Jeff control your girl," Marcus said.
"Come on Rose, stop it."
"No," I replied looking directly at Marcus. He knew I wasn't playing a game and then looked at Hannah and smirked.
"No sweat, I won't do anything anyways," Marcus said to Hannah, "I thought you were easy."
Marcus walked away from Hannah with his boys following him while I looked at Marcus as he passed by as I ran straight to Hannah as she began to cry and I held her against my chest.
"R-Rose," she cried.
"Shhh, I'm sorry I couldn't get here faster but that asshole will pay." I replied, "are you okay?"
She continued to cry as I looked at her. She was hurt and embarrassed and this wasn't the first time. This time she couldn't move or breath properly. all because these guys thought it was fun to play with her emotions. Why isn't it that they were bullying her like this.
"Hey Hannah, do you want to come over to my house?" I asked, "my father loves it when you come over."
"N-No, I don't want you to end your date with Jeff."
"No Hannah, Jeff knows that I was going to be on standby," I replied.
"Besides, it is fine, me and Rose can go one another date, one that is more formal," Jeff said.
"Was this all my fault?" Hannah asked as she raised her hands to her temple as I held her close.
"No," I replied, "It wasn't your fault and don't think otherwise."
"Will I be alone for the rest of my life?" Hannah replied.
"Don't think like that," I replied bringing her up and getting her to walk to Jeff's car. Instead of sitting in the front, I opted for the back of the car to comfort my crying best friend. Every now and then I would see him glancing my way and smiling at me. Maybe it was because of the fact that I was devoted to my best friend. Maybe because I put us last in this situation.
15 minutes and we were right on my doorstep. I led Hannah to my doorstep as Jeff got out of the car and leaned against the door. I opened the door and my mother came rushing asking questions. I told her the situation she began comforting Hannah and called her mother. I quickly stepped out and ran back to Jeff who held a small smile.
"I know you're upset at me for ending our date but...I'll make it up to you!" I quickly said.
"Oh yeah," he said raising his eyebrow while reaching to pull me into is grasp, resting his arms around my waist, "How?"
"I guess we can go on that formal date you wanted us to go on,"
"Alright," Jeff said, " Friday at 8?"
"Why must you insist on stopping me from playing my Super Smash Brother's Melee with Clay and Tony?"
"Hey," Jeff said, "Remember, you said you owe me and I want that as retribution."
"There you go with those big words, sounding like your ready for the SAT," I joked to which he shook his head to my sarcasm, "Alright, I'll go on the date with you on Friday at 8 pm."
He gave me that cheeky smile and lightly pecked my lips before I pulled my arms away from him. "Thanks for today handsome," I whispered before turning to go inside. "Anytime my beautiful rose," he said smirking, waiting until I was fully inside before going into his car and expressing his excitement.
"Wonder if he knows that his windows aren't tinted and people will think he is crazy if they were to pass by?" I laughed as I turned around to walked into the kitchen to see my mother and Hannah having a heart to heart.
I smiled at the fact that these are just more moments at when we realize on whom we can truly count during our darkest hour. And during these moments, we need to be at each other side, shining in the brightest light possible to help out of the darkness that surrounds us.
