Soon enough the next dance was around the corner and it was the big Halloween Dance. Classes have been my main focus since the that fight with Jeff . Speaking of Jeff, we haven't been speaking since he started dating one of the school cheerleaders and began hanging around more of this baseball team members and the other Jocks..
Currently Hannah and I were in the costume store looking through the costumes. I was finished with a whole rack, and was on my second one. I groaned. "There's gotta be something here," I said to myself.
"This one?" Hannah asked, holding up a cat suit. I went and tried it on, I came out to show them. "Yes honey!" the store owner stated while clapping. I looked at the mirror and had a disgusted look on my face. "No way!" I stated. I sighed and went back in to change.
A bunch of costumes were thrown over, so I started trying them on. I came out in a nurse outfit. "Nah!" I went back and changed back and exited the booth and sighed. "This is hopeless!" I said, a little disappointed. I took a seat at the counter while Hannah went to try on her outfits. I was looking at the framed box with masks and jewelry in it. My eyes caught something and I pointed at it. "Let me see that mask," I demanded.
The store owner got it out and handed it to me and I smiled knowing exactly what type of costume that I could wear with this. It looked beautiful.
"With that expression, you might have something to go with it. The owner said. I stared at it. "yeah, I do..." i looked at Hannah and laughed at the ridiculous banana costume she was wearing. "But first, lets help Hannah out with her costume."
After Hannah and I split from the costume store to get ready, I was on my way home walking. You passed the local corner store to see Bryce and the jocks chugging down on some booze. Luckliy, you were able to pass by unnoticed and soon enough made it home.
I ran upstairs to the attic and went searching for the one item I knew was going to look great with this mask. I found box and opened the box revealing a dress. I gasped, staring at it. It was strapless, and plain. Plain white. "Perfect," I whispered in awe. This dress, was my mother's wedding dress when she walked down the aisle with my father, the love of her life.
"So this is what got you so eager?" your mother asked as I looked at her, "I think you should wear it tonight!" She said, squatting next to me, "That dress has been in that box so long, it deserves a night out," I started at her, and then the dress. It was too beautiful, but it helped me give my costume a sense of meaning.
"Thanks mom!"
