Dear Monday,
I know it must be rough being you. You're basically everyone's least favorite day of the week, and for good enough reasons too. And although I know it isn't always fair for you to take the heat, it's also really not fair for you to just end the blissful weekend and bring on a heap of responsibilities. I try to ignore the dread I feel as you quickly approach, but the looming reality is always there. Friday to Monday happens in the blink of an eye, while Monday to Friday seems to drag on forever. WHY?!
My eyes flickered opened as my alarm clock began to play music. I groaned and rolled over onto my back before I sat up and turned off the snooze. I got up and stretched my arms and started around my room to see few boxes left.
I gathered my clothes and walked into the bathroom, kicking the door closed behind me.
I loved showers. I love the feeling of the clean and smelling like my name mixed in with strawberries and cream. I closed my eyes and let the cool water wake me up. Fragments of Friday night rolled through and I gasped. I knew that I would have to confront him.
I sighed as I stepped out feeling very refreshed and walked towards my closet. Today was a White blouse and black Jeans with wet and wavy hair today and a pair of Lou batons to compliment. I put on some light eyeliner and mascara and went downstairs.
I left the house after breakfast and walked towards school. Moments later, I was in front of Liberty High and I knew todays topic was going to be Bryce's Party. After going to that party and being ditched by Jeff, I finally realized what needed to be done. I needed to focus on school and just make sure I maintain the grades I need to get into Harvard.
"Hey Rose!"
"Hey Clay!"
Its funny that I am one year older than him and yet he was the only friend I can count on, probably because of how nerdy we both were.
"How was your weekend?"
"Besides Friday night, I say it was filled with a lot of re-runs of Lord of the Rings: Return of the Rings and the Count of Monte Cristo, you?"
"The same," Clay laughed, "Hey maybe we can hang out in the library, I have this test that I have in a week and I need someone to quiz me."
Whole we were walking into the school, I noticed everyone was looking at us. I heard gasps, wow's, gossip about the outfit I wore at the party, compliments of having a great complexion, and whistles. A mixture of everything.
Given my style and looks, I was popular in this school, and I didn't even have to be apart of the jock and cheerleading crew to do it and probably because of me turning down two jocks.
"Rose!"
"Huh...sorry Clay, Sure I'll help you," you replied stoping by your locker, "See yah!"
Clay waved and ran to his locker. You turned your combination and got the necessary books you needed and closed your locker. I closed the locker door the moment I heard some of the jocks calling out Jeff's name. That was my cue to leave.
I swiftly walked out of the area before Jeff could close in on me and walked into class. The teacher, Mrs.Bradley's class.
"Good morning Mrs. Bradley," I said, going over to the back where my seat was.
"Good morning Rose," she responded.
Finally the bell rang and everybody took their seats. Some boys drooling over me, Bryce Walker being one of them.
The class passed in a blue and lunch came by fast. By the the time, the school were talking about Homecoming and some still fixed on Bryce's party. I walked down the stairs to my locker until I was intercepted on the stair case.
"We need to talk," Jeff started.
"There is nothing to talk about," I replied, "Excuse me."
"No," Jeff said, "We need to talk, now."
"Jeff," I started, "I really don't have time to talk to you about Friday. I should have known that you would have been drinking and you wouldn't be able to bring me home, so I asked Clay."
"I wasn't drinking that night!" Jeff yelled.
"And that doesn't defend the position I saw you in and who you were with at the party," I replied smoothly, "I assumed that you needed more time with your potential hookup and asked a friend to bring me home, knowing that he would be competent to take me safely."
I walked around Jeff as he turned around and looked shocked at me as I turned the corner and noticed Clay Jensen at the table for home coming.
"You going?" I asked sliding beside him as he jumped slightly.
"Don't do that!" He yelled causing you to laugh, "And to answer your question, no."
"But you guys look cute together!" One of the girls stated, "You guys should go together."
"Uh..." Clay started.
"I don't do dances," I answered, "It's just not my thing."
"I guess it will be because you and I will be going together," someone you knew o so well and just bought two tickets for the both of us.
I turned to Jeff as he flashed that charming smile of his and handed me the ticket. The girls at the table were giggling at Jeff's action as Clay just looked confused at the situation.
"Did Jeff Atkins just force you to go to Homecoming with him?" Clay asked.
"Why Jensen, I think he just did," you said a little out of daze.
