I was full of emotions and it had only been about a month and a half in school. I was pissed, upset, angry, sad, and hurt. Jeff was trying so hard to try and get me to be social but I basically blew him off and was acting "petty". I could have just pushed it to the side and just moved on, but I guess when a game like this has been played to me so many times, my heart becomes guarded.

I sat on my bed, my cell phone in one hand and my a book in the other. With the page open to the page I wanted to read, but my eyes were on my thumb that lingered over Jeff's 70 unread messages for the past ten minutes, but I couldn't bring myself to read them. I wanted him to move on and go to the dance with no worries on his mind.

Little sounds were coming from my window which I first ignored until it continued. I then rose from my bed to see where the sound was coming from only to see Jeff Atkins, with a nice suit and tie, looking up at my window with that charming smile of his.

I reject the guy and he is persistent on coming back. I opened my window to look at Jeff as he walked up closer to my window.

"Shouldn't you be at the dance?"

"Not without the girl I really want to go with," Jeff said.

"Jeff please-"

"Hear me out," Jeff started, "Look I'm sorry that I neglected you at that party when I promised to take care of you and I know that I f**ked up but please let me make it up to you?"

I sighed at this behavior and looked at him to see him desperate in this situation.

"How?" I asked.

"Let's go on a date,"

"When?"

"Now."

"Now!" I yelled, "I am in my pajamas!"

"Then change into something or come in your pajamas!"

"Really Jeff?" I questioned.

"I am serious," Jeff said, "I'll wait in the car for you."

"He isn't going to quit."

"Fine," I replied, "Give me 15 minutes."

I closed the window to see Jeff being super excited at the fact that he and I were going on a date aside from Homecoming. So I guess it was best to make it worth his wild. I swooped my hair to the side, especially since my curls were looser and threw on a black tee with jeans, heels, and a wool coat.

I made sure that my makeup was really light to avoid me from cleaning it up later and walked out of my room. Because my dad had off for a week, he was home and getting by his ears were going to be the true task but there were some tactics he taught me that I can use against him.

Our stairs had a habit of squeaking at the fourth and seventh step, I lightly skipped those steps as well as walked through the house and exited the house without anyone walking up and questioning. I quickly ran across the yard to Jeff's car and entered.

Jeff drove off the moment I entered. He lowered the music to thicken the silence in the car, knowing that it was going to force me to speak.

"Why didn't you go to homecoming Jeffery?" I asked, which got him to chuckle at the fact that I was scolding him like a mom.

"Like I told you, I am not going unless the girl I wanted to go with was there," he said, "Besides, this is way better than the dance."

"How so?" I asked.

"I am spending time with the girl that was suppose to be at the dance with me," he replied.

"If only she knew where you were going," I threw out.

"Well she is about to find out in 10 seconds," he replied back.

He pulled the car up at the cliff and turned off the car as you were getting ready to exit the car until Jeff did what he did before and closed my door. He exited the car and then walked around and opened my door. I exited the car door and immediately walked up towards the ledge and held the bar and was in awe from the sight.

The eerie darkness of that night would never escape my memory. I clearly remember the pitch-black curtain draped over the sky, and the twisted, warped shapes that the stars made against the blackness. The milky speckles twirled and danced along the sky in various patterns, tugging at the corners of my lips in a way that almost made me smile.

"It's beautiful," I said in awe taking in the sight and gasped when I felt Jeff stand super close to me and put his arm around me.

"Yeah, you are," he muttered.

"Huh?" You questioned.

"I-I mean y-yeah its beautiful," Jeff said but I knew what he said and it looked like my feelings for him was requited. I turned my head back towards the night sky staring up to study the sliver glow of the luminous moon.

"When I use to move around I use to live in big cities," I started, "I never got the chance to see these beautiful blinking fairy lights in the night sky. A friend told me, they look like fireflies only they burn brighter against the glowing black satin behind layers and layers of serene clouds above our heads. Sometimes, when it is specially dark, stars light up so much their brilliance are mirrored from our dilated orbs. It's so surreal and it makes anyone wants to reach up for one, keep it in our hands for warmth and pocket it to bring home and keep them in a jar."

"I am glad I got to take you here," he replied, "When there is a lot on my mind, I usually come here to think."

"What do you think about?"

"My grades that need to be high enough for me to be on the baseball team, drama at school, my family, and most recently you," he answered.

My head went down trying to forget the little spat we had with one another but I knew he wanted to talk it out. He just seemed like that kind of guy.

" I knew you were mad at me because of the promise I broke in taking care of you at that party and I felt like crap. You never been to a party like that and you trusted me to take care of you."

"Its okay," I replied truly accepting his apology, "You will just have to earn my trust again, and this is a start."

"I guess your right..." Jeff trailed, "Say would you be open to going on another date?"

"I don't know," you thought to yourself jokingly, "There is a ton of work that needs to be done."

The moment those words left your lips, he quickly took you into his arms to which he held you down and began tickling your sides causing you to laugh and gave up.

"Fine, only if a couple of study dates can go in there as well," you said looking up into Jeff's sea color eyes to which he flashed his smile and placed his forehead against yours, closing his eyes and taking in your sweet smell.

"It's a deal."
