"I don't know what you see in that guy!"
I was having the same conversation for the umpteenth time with my best friend, and frankly speaking this seemed to be going down the same damn route again.
"Aaron come on! Not this again... I feel like a broken record repeating the same thing over and over again."
I was exasperated and annoyed and the only thing to be thankful for was that Brooke wasn't here. Thank God for small favors. Usually when Aaron and Brooke teamed up there was no saving me. They both were blunt and brutal and got along freakishly well at most everything! Thankfully Aaron's partner was not here today giving me a little breathing space while I held up my argument. So here I was sitting on my porch discussing why exactly I had a crush on Zach Miller my Lab partner.
"I don't enjoy this conversation either but I really don't get you! That guy is not the most popular, or the most athletic, something you girls seem to love so much, or the smartest... You could do so much better! Then why him?"
"Oh look! It's getting late... I have so much homework to do!" I gasped at my non existing wrist watch. "Better get going Parker! You should work on your assignments as well."
I blatantly dismissed Aaron as I rushed into the house. I didn't wait to see if he left and went straight up to my room. Mom was going to come home late and that meant I had the house all to myself for at least 4 more hours! Not that it made much difference. That's the issue with having a chilled out Mom. She doesn't put many restrictions anyway so there's not much to take advantage of. No rebellious teenage life. I simply changed into my home clothes, put on some 'all time low' and started dancing around the house like a whacko. Nothing unusual. I knew Aaron had guessed I was lying about the homework because we didn't have any. But I could give anything to get out of that conversation.
It all started when Zach and I got partnered up in physics class. We had talked before, a bunch of times. I congratulated him when they won the basketball tournament at the end of sophomore year. Actually Aaron and Zach were together on the same team. Now that I think about it they also got along pretty well. Although Zach was an average player and Aaron was, well, amaazing! Zach isn't half bad. He is pretty chill about things, he is easy to talk to, also he is a Sherlock fanatic just like me. And damn those dimples! He has those corner of the mouth dimples, not the overly common cheek dimples. That's it. That is exactly why I like him. Now I had a definite answer for our next argument. Only this time Aaron would have reinforcement. Well... Until then....
