I knew my incessant tapping didn't go unnoticed when Aaron forcefully held my knee down to stop me. But to be completely honest I couldn't help it. Zach had said that he wanted to talk to me and my brain couldn't help but conjure scenarios about what could be. I was a goofy grin away from planning my wedding vows when Aaron snapped me out of it. Brooke was looking at me expectantly. Apparently the class had ended and I shot out of my seat at lightning speed, beelining towards the door looking for Zach. I was trying to suppress my smile as much as possible. Apparently trying doesn't really guarantee success. When I stood in front of Zach he had an amused look on his face.
"Ssup? You seem happy."
I snapped out of my daze and shrugged nonchalantly. Suddenly I wasn't so goofy. That's the thing about this weird crush on Zach. I always thought you're supposed to feel all happy and giddy, and have butterflies errupt in your belly when talking to your crush, but I was usually totally calm while actually talking to him. The butterflies were active only when I was thinking about him. My mind had this annoying habit of going astray every three seconds. So even though I was usually good at hiding my wandering thoughts I couldn't suppress my smile whenever Zach popped up in my mind and I would simply seem cuckoo to most people.
"So? You wanted to talk to me?"
"Errm yeah so as you probably already know Sherlock's next season is coming out this weekend so I was wondering if you'd like to watch it together."
Long pause
"Like a bunch of friends are also coming over and we recently got a home theater so I thought it could be fun. So like I was just wondering if you would be interested."
"Gee Zach! If your nervousness was anything to go by one would think that you were asking me out or something!"
Whoops! And the words were out. Realization dawned on me as Zach started turning a funny crimson. Stupid stupid girl! Way to make things awkward. You're probably the only one considering that possibility anyway! I had to salvage the situation and fast! I didn't want to sound too interested but I didn't want to brush off the possibility completely either, you know just in case he would consider this option later.
"Cool cool. Sounds fun. Like I'd love to come. Fun....fun..."
Wow that didn't help at all. Now it was my turn to change color.
"Gee Barnes! If your awkwardness is anything to go by one would think I just asked you out!"
Haha. Okay we were joking. I could do this back and forth. That's when he broke out a grin. Damn those adorable corner-of-the-mouth dimples!
"Oy! Millie! Get a move on. We have Algebra!"
Stupid Aaron and his stupid timing. I turned around to see him waiting for me. Brooke was just behind him. I bid Zach goodbye, quarter heartedly to be honest. And made my towards my two evil best friends. Aaron waved at Zach and we started walking towards our next classes. Well at least I had something to look forward to this weekend...
