I sat in the physics lab tapping my feet incessantly

I sat in the physics lab tapping my feet incessantly. I'd left a note in Zach's locker. I had decided that the best way to go about fixing our relationship was to go back to the roots. A simple sorry couldn't possibly suffice. I knew that Zach wouldn't care either way. He wasn't even really mad at me. To be honest he had been nothing but considerate this whole time. But I didn't want to take him from granted anymore. That's exactly Aaron was doing to me and I hated every second of it. If he wanted to toss out a lifelong friendship for whatever stupid reason he had conjured up in his brain that was his problem not mine!

So I focused my attention back to Zach. I'd left a riddle on a piece of paper inside his locker. He was a Sherlock fan. He'd know what to do.

Hearts drawn together, heads a foot apart
I'll take you back, before the start,
I remember, all my pining days
The right chemistry, just the wrong place.

I patiently waited for Zach to walk in through that door. If I focused any harder my eyes would've probably probably popped out. I was crouching under the the desk in the far corner. The lab was empty and the lights were off. I had to squint to be able to see at all. I heard footsteps outside the door and held my breath. I didn't want to see him yet. I had this whole elaborate thing planned out. The door opened a crack and I could vaguely make out Zach's figure. He flicked on a light and looked around probably expecting me to be there.
I knew he would figure it out. I especially thought the play on chemistry physics thing was rather ingenious. I silently patted on my back as Zach walked towards our bench.

I had left the movie ticket stubs from that weird date on the table. He seemed to identify what it was but his face didn't look all that pleased. He probably couldn't wait to talk to me already. I had been avoiding him after all.

He exited the classroom and I dashed out right after him towards the opposite exit. I had to get to the theater before him just to make sure things went as planned. Brooke walked out of the classroom on the other end of the hall and I stopped dead in my tracks. To be honest I didn't have a problem with Brooke but she hadn't exactly been helpful either.

She spotted me and looked at me with worried eyes. Uhoh! I hardly moved as she made her way towards me.

" I heard what happened yesterday."

"Of course you did..." I muttered under my breath.

"Are not talking to Zach either now?"

Okay like seriously! What the hell! Where was she getting all the information from. And what made it okay for her to take such a condescending tone with me. I think I was pissed with her after all!

"He was looking for you... Millie you really need to talk to me. This is bad."

"Well of course I know things are bad and it's hardly my fault. So excuse me while I try to fix what little I can."

"Are you talking about Zach?"

I was already walking past her when I gave her a curt yes.

"Well then I really do need to talk to you first."

But I was already out the door. My boyfriend was looking for me and I had better get to him.

I reached only a couple moments before Zach. He parked his car and started walking towards entrance. That's not where he should be going. Of course it would have been the natural course of action. But I had planted my clue right here next to where we were parked that day. I would've had to buy tickets to actually plant it inside. A rather useless expense considering we weren't even going to watch the film.

I hid behind a car and meowed to get his attention. Dear God! Pathetic I know. Sherlock would've been appalled! He turned once but then started heading in again. I 'tsk'ed this time. From near the spot of the clue.

"Amelia are you there?"

Whoops! He couldn't find out now could he. I quickly ducked behind a Jeep next to me. Then 'tsk'ed again. He must've spotted the note I had taped to a window.

This had started to feel more like a Dora the explorer episode than a Sherlock Holmes mystery.

A simple spark that lit a fire.
You told me of your heart's desire.
Bathed in moonlight- heart and sky
It's where it started and you know why.

Look at me! The next Pablo Neruda if you will. I chuckled involuntarily and the next thing I know he was standing right behind me.
