Chapter 18

Alyssa’s POV

Prince Liam immediately flitted to my side.  He was handsome in his own way, or at least for a human.  Most girls probably melt at his feet after catching a glimpse of his charming smile and twinkling green eyes. I’m not like most girls though.

“Would you like me to show you around?” Liam asked.

“Maybe tomorrow?  Right now I just want to go get some rest.  It would help if you could show me to my room,” I said.

He nodded and looked slightly disappointed.  He instantly perked up and said, “Right this way milady.”  He grabbed my hand and pulled me down a hallway.  I could feel Chase glaring daggers at Liam’s back as he followed behind us. I quickly pulled my hand out of Liam’s grasp making him give me a weird look, but nothing else. Chase still glared.

“I was excited to hear that your family was coming to visit.  We don’t get many visitors,” He said.

I nodded.  “Neither do we.” I debated on telling him that I was excited to be here, but I didn’t want to put forth the effort to lie to him.  Plus he seemed like a nice guy.

“I have to practically get on my knees and beg my father to let go somewhere or let me have friends visit,” he said and sent me a smile.

I laughed at the image of Liam on the ground actually begging. It was a pretty funny sight.  “Well we have one thing in common at least, my father is exactly like that too,” I replied back.

Liam sent me another one of his dazzling smile and quickly looked up.  “Oh, here’s the room you’ll be staying in.  Mine is three doors down on the right, so If you need anything feel free to walk on over and ask,” he said.  He kissed the top of my hand and winked at me, making me let out a small laugh. “See you around,” he stated and walked off.

Chase roughly pushed past me and into the room, which I promptly closed the door after him.  I turned around to see him pacing back and forth across the room like a caged animal.

“I don’t like him Alyssa.” Chase stated firmly.

I cocked my head to the side and said, “Why not?” He seemed like a perfectly fine guy to me. Then again anyone seems like a nice person to me unless they do something to make me hate them.

He stopped pacing and glared at me. “Something’s just not right about him…” Chase finally said.

I stared at him completely flabbergasted. “You’ve know him for what? A whole five minutes and you already don’t like him?!”

Chase shrugged. “I just don’t like him okay?” he stated crossly.

“You sure that’s it?” I asked with a big grin on my face, because I had a whole different theory on why he was mad. “Or are you just jealous?”

“I’m not jealous!” he stated stubbornly, which just proved to me even more that he was.

I laughed and walked over to him.  “You sure? Because I think you are,” I said teasingly.  He glared at me.  “Is somebody jealous?” I asked changing my voice to sound like I was talking to a baby just to make him mad.

It worked.

“I’m not jealous!” he all but yelled.  I giggled at his mad expression which only seemed to anger him even more.

I decided I didn’t want to have him angry at me during the whole trip, so I said, “Don’t worry, there’s no need to be jealous.” I gave him a small smile. “He’s not my type.”
