Chapter 46 - Morality
I stood in the quiet park, face to face with Patrick. The air was warm and hazy, the cool wind was picking up, and I wanted to make this quick and get the hell home before the rain started.
"I'm glad you agreed to this."
"You didn't give me much of a choice."
He wouldn't stop calling and driving Levi insane.
"Cut the attitude."
And there it was, the controlling side that he can never keep in when it comes to me. He could try his hardest but his need to control women would always surface. He belittles us; believes we are just rag dolls to boss around. His outlook would never change. He would never change.
"I'm not a kid anymore, you have no power over me so you might as well stop while you're ahead." I shrugged, the words falling through my lips easily. His intimidation would no longer work on me. I wasn't afraid. I had no reason to be.
I've wasted too much of my life on fearing this man. No more.
The sniffling of his nose sounded thick and I knew he was high. His bulging eyes and reddened neck were a dead give away. "I'm warning you darling." But I could tell it by the first second I saw him standing here, sweating slightly.
"What will you do? Hit me?" My words nearly anticipated the action, but he kept to his place.
The action wouldn't be anything out of the ordinary for him. He would break and show his true colors.
"I don't know why I even bother." He shook his head, chuckling.
"I don't know why either." I pursed my lips.
"You know something? I left your mother because she was a whore." He spit and his words caught me off guard. My body stiffened, adrenalin rushing through my veins. "You kids idolized her but she was actually just a dirty slut."
I realized I had to defend my mother whether what he said was true or not. Afterall, there was no way I could possibly know the truth of my parent's relationship. But nothing she could've ever done, could justify the way he treated her and I.
"I'd sleep around too if I was married to a man like you." My voice was seething with hatred.
He stepped closer to me and my fists balled up at my sides.
"You never learned to watch that tongue of yours little girl."
"And you've never learned to control that temper of yours." I countered.
"You're just like her," His lips curled up, "thinking you're better than everyone. Thinking you can get away with whatever you want, even jumping from boy to boy."
It makes me laugh how a complete stranger can make assumptions about your life.
His face was a foot from mine and his tall stature towered over me.
"I've seen you going back and forth from blondie to Levi's friend." His voice was very accusing, as if I was whoring around. Very ironic considering the fact that that was one of his favorite hobbies. "Just like her, you can't keep your legs closed."
Rage pulsed through me and I conjured up all the power I could before I drew my arm back and laid my fist into his cheek.
I stumbled forward a bit as he cupped his cheek. I pushed off of his body to distance myself from him but his left hand quickly wrapped around my arm as his other hand came up and smacked me clear across the face.
