“It’s only about a twenty minute drive” Niall told me once we were on our way

“I have an idea; twenty questions!” I said excitedly

He laughed and agreed, telling me to go first. After a second of thought, I realized I was going to have to be very creative with my questions as Darcey would watch all their interviews then come to school and make sure I knew all the answer to the questions the interviewer had asked the boys. Basically I knew a lot about this guy, and since I really did want to get to know him better, I decided crazy questions were my best bet.

“Alright, what is the most disgusting thing you’ve ever eaten?” I questioned

He laughed, “I thought you were going to start off with something easy like favourite colour! Ok, most disgusting thing? Vegemite was pretty gross, umm, oh! One time, on a dare, I ate a live goldfish which was disgusting.”

“A live goldfish? Ya, that takes the cake right there.” I replied with a laugh

“Alright, my turn, when’s your birthday?” he asked

“Going from live goldfish to birthdays,” I smiled, “August 8th”

For the next twenty minutes, he asked me mostly normal questions and I asked him the craziest questions I could think of, and his answers had me in stitches.

When we finally arrived, I was still laughing when I got out of the car, until I noticed where we were.

“No freaking way!” I said

“What, you don’t like it?” He asked concerned, “Because we can go somewhere else if you-“

“Niall, this is amazing, are you kidding?” I said, “I love the zoo!”

He smiled, relieved and we walked toward the entrance. I was bouncing up and down I was so excited and he laughed.

“Two please” He told the ticket vendor, and put his hand over mine when I reached for my wallet, telling me it was his treat. I smiled at how cute he was, and we walked into the zoo together.

The first thing we did was get food. There was a cart that sold everything a little kid could want, aka anything I could ever want. There was cotton candy, hotdogs, corndogs, hamburgers, sausages, candy apples, caramel corn, popcorn, pretzels, and anything else you could think of.

Niall made a beeline for in, and I followed as he picked out a hotdog and popcorn for himself.

“Want anything?” he asked

“Pfft, of course! One thing you’ll learn about me is I like me my food!” I told him as I decided what I wanted.

“My kind of girl” He said and I blushed as he once again insisted on paying for my corndog and caramel corn.

We started walking around, deciding which animals to go see. He was really excited to see the giraffes so we went there first, then to the hyenas, bears, monkeys and elephants. This was the best zoo ever!

I had finished my corndog and Niall his hotdog when I saw a sign for hippos and grabbed Niall’s hand and began dragging him towards them, super excited.

“Holy poo, hippos! Come on Niall!” I cried and he laughed

“Holy poo?” he questioned

I just stuck out my tongue at him and went up to the railing, leaning over to get a better look. Niall came up beside me and took my hand in his, and we just stood there for a while; me commenting on everything the hippos were doing excitedly and Niall laughing at me.

It was around 6:30 by the time we left the zoo and I thought the date couldn’t get any better until Niall started the car and headed in the wrong direction for my house, and when I told him he said the date wasn’t over yet, and I wasn’t complaining.

5 minutes later, we were at a park. We got out of the car and Niall grabbed something from the trunk but wouldn’t let me see what it was. He then led me to the top of a hill and pulled out from behind his back two kites.

I smiled and took the one he gave me, and got mine set up. I had to help Niall though because his got tangled. There was a nice breeze, and the kites sailed peacefully in the air.

“So, how’d I do?” Niall questioned

“Best date ever,” I told him but wouldn’t look at him whilst saying so

I saw him grin, and we continued our game of twenty questions.

It was 8:00 before we decided to go back since it was now dark, and the perfect date got even better as Niall sang softly with the radio on the way back.

He saw me watching him sing and stopped, “Sorry,” he said self consciously, “Habit.”

“Don’t be sorry, your voice is beautiful.” I told him smiling

He smiled shyly at me and began singing along to Heaven by Emeli Sande which had just started playing.

When we got back to my place, he opened my door for me and walked me up to my door.

I began to get nervous again; would he kiss me? I wanted him to.

“Are your parents home?” he questioned

“No, but that’s normal; they work almost all the time.” I told him. I was seriously nervous now, and so of course me being really smart, I started babbling. “Thanks for today, it was really fun. I don’t know how you knew but I love the zoo, and the kites were super fun. I haven’t done that in ages. And the food was wicked too, some of my fav-“

My rambling was cut off suddenly by Niall pressing his lips to mine. I was shocked at first, but as soon as I got over it, I kissed him back. His lips were soft and amazing. I’d never kissed anything like them in my whole life, which wasn’t saying too much as I didn’t kiss many guys, but wow.

He pulled back and smiled at me, “Goodnight.”

“Goodnight” I said, but it came out as almost a whisper because he’d literally taken my breath away

He got into his car and drove away, and I just starred after him, not believing that something so perfect had actually happened to me. I unlocked my door and opened it to be greeted with the familiar surroundings of my empty house.

I started up the stairs to my room when my phone went off. I checked it and grinned when I saw who the text I’d gotten was from.

-Now it was perfect- Niall

Yes, I thought, yes it was.
