Holy Shit.
Those were the two words that kept repeating through my mind as girls screamed in my ears and craned further forward in the small space between their seats and the seat in front of them, in an attempt to get even an inch closer to the boys they were in love with.
I looked around and saw tears streaming down many girls faces, and watched as one girl fanned herself with her hand before she literally passed out in the middle of the studio. A couple adults ran forward to make sure the girl was ok, while her friends ignored her and leaned even further forward, trying to get a better look at the entrance where the boys would soon emerge from.
The hosts of the show, Miranda Neadle and John Dopling smiled and laughed at the reaction from their usual docile audience before.
The light on the sign reading applause went out but it took a good five minutes before the girls around me gained enough composure to actually sit down and wipe away their tears of joy.
“Wow, that was quite a reception we got, eh Miranda?” John said towards the camera that was currently filming him to the entire nation.
“It certainly was John; clearly these boys have quite excitable fans.” Miranda said with her patent girly laugh.
I looked over at the girl sitting next to me and sighed, it was going to be a crazy day. The girl’s medium length black hair with blonde on the underside was also leaning forward in her seat, but she dared not cry because it would ruin the excessive amounts of makeup she was wearing today. Looking around I noticed that all the other girls were the same. Loads of makeup, freshly straightened hair and small outfits were on every girl in the studio who was here to try and impress the boy band that would soon make an appearance. My thoughts then turned to my outfit and I looked down, noting that I probably stood out like a sore thumb because I was the complete opposite. I wore no makeup apart from lip chap and some light powder on my skin which made my big brownish greenish eyes look even bigger, my brown hair fell naturally in it’s straight but volume filled way down to the bottom of my chest and my outfit was far from skanky. My cute long sleeve shirt had a v-neck but not in the extreme way I saw around me, in order to show my necklace that my parents had given me on my 16th birthday last year, and my silver brand jeans hang close to my body but didn’t give off the illusion of being painted on.
I shook myself realizing I’d zoned out and started listening to the hosts again just as Miranda said, “So we all know their story, the British boy band that were thrown together and are now reaching world domination with their ever growing popularity in every country around the globe. We are pleased to have them join us today on this chilly day in Toronto. When we come back the boys will be joining us,” the girls all began to scream again, “so stay tuned.” Miranda finished before the show went to commercial break.
The girl beside me turned to me and smiled excitedly. “Oh my god Hannah, were actually gonna see them!” she squealed.
I smiled at how excited she was, “I know Darcey, you’ve been telling me every five minutes for the last 2 months.” I replied laughing.
“I don’t know how your so calm, were actually gonna see them in person!” she said, her squeal reaching a new octave.
I just laughed and shook my head. The producers were giving the hosts the sign that we would be on air again in 5..4..3..2..1..
“And were back on The Nightly Show. I’m John Dopling and this is Miranda Neadle. As you can see, the studio is packed to the brim today, and it’s all because of five young stars that are joining us today. So, without further ado, let’s bring them out! Everyone, let’s give a warm welcome to the boys of One Direction!”
