I scrolled through my twitter page, reading the comments for the hundredth time and felt a tear roll down my cheek. I angrily swiped at it; this should not bother me. What people thought of me never bothered me before but there were thousands of people telling me these things; could they really all be wrong?
My phone beeped again, a new notification.
-How much did you pay Niall to pretend to be you’re boyfriend?-
Nice; I thought, real nice. That’s it, I’m not going to let this bother me anymore; I’m just going to ignore it. Another notification.
-He clearly doesn’t even like her- It was attached to a really old picture of Niall and his ex girlfriend who I’d actually met; but of course in a matter of seconds, people were agreeing with the comment.
Another tear escaped and I sighed before wiping it away; frustrated as hell.
“HANNAH!” The door to the roof suddenly flung open and Liam appeared with a scared expression on his face. I quickly hid my phone just as he spotted me.
Liam took out his phone as he walked over to me and texted someone, before pulling me into a hug.
“Are you alright? We were so worried!” he said pulling away to look at my face.
“I’m fine, my allergies are just bad and I was going to get some medication but thought fresh air might do the-“ I started
“Hannah, I know you don’t have allergies,” he told me, “And i saw the twitter.”
I looked at the ground, ashamed and felt another tear fall and swiped at it angrily. Liam pulled me into another hug and let out a harsh laugh.
“It shouldn’t bother me, shit like that never had, it’s just there are so many of them saying it all.... it just got to me.” I said
“Hannah that is complete bullshit. Everything they said is completely not true. You are beautiful and smart and funny and you and Niall are the best couple I’ve ever seen before. It makes me sick that they would attack you like that.” Liam told me firmly, his face scrunching up when he said the last part.
“But how can they all be wrong? There’s thousands saying the same thing.” I whispered
“They’re jealous Hannah; they want what you have.” Liam told me
“I guess that’s what happens when someone like me dates someone like Niall.” I said and Liam gave me a quizzical look.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean that I’m just a plain girl from Canada and Niall is Niall Horan from One Direction.” I responded with a sigh and another tear fell down my face.
“Hannah, you are anything but plain; if anything its One Direction that’s plain. You are one of the kindest people I’ve ever met and Niall is the luckiest guy in the world to have you and do not forget that.” He told me, and just as he did, the roof door flung open once again and Niall emerged, out of breathe.
“Hannah.” He said and ran over to where we were and engulfed me in a hug.
“I’m going to go make sure everyone knows everything’s ok.” Liam said leaving the roof after shooting me a reassuring look.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to worry everyone.” I said, looking at the ground.
“You have nothing to be sorry about. Te fact that they said those things makes me want to kill someone. It’s stupid and untrue and just cruel and I feel like throwing up after reading it.” Niall told me seriously, lifting my head and looking directly into my eyes.
