The sound of footsteps hitting the cold concrete sidewalk was the only sound that could be heard while walking down the empty street. Not a single car passed by, as Johnny Ghost strolled threw the creepy town, anxious to get home.

The lap post lights flickered above him, barley illuminating the nighttime darkness surrounding him.

A cold breeze caused Ghost to shiver, shoving his hand inside his hoodie pockets to gain some warmth. He felt the spare change jiggle inside his jacket, the money he had received from working today's shift at mc donald's. It wasn't a lot, but he was satisfied with receiving any source of money. He didn't like having Toast pay for everything.

The bitter cold night wasn't the only thing making Ghost uncomfortable. His body shook in fear whenever walking through this side of town, especially after hours at night.

Ghost told himself that he has dealt with countless dangerous cases and has confronted many harmful ghosts, forcing himself to believe that he could defend himself just fine, and to push on walking.

As Ghost turned a corner to walk down the sidewalk, he suddenly heard the sound of an upcoming car. He didn't think much of it, and continued to put one foot in front of the other.

The shrieking of the car slamming its brakes onto the cement made his heart stop, his feet freezing in place.

"Ey, you! Stay right where you are!"

An older mans voice called out, follows by a car door being slammed shut.

Ghost wanted to run, but his body wouldn't listen, complete fear overtaken his entire being.

"Give me all your money, make this easy for both of us."

Turning around, Ghosts eyes analyzed the larger man, with a shaved head and a couple of littered scars on his face. He held out a hand, with his other hand firmly grasping his jean pocket.

"I-I don't have anything!" Ghost tried to sound threatening, but it didn't seem to affect the man.

"Oh yeah? Let's see about that."

A sudden grab at the collar of Ghosts hoodie pulled him toward the man, his hands now aggressively ripping into his pockets, and taking out the change he had received from work.

The man looked at the money, before spitting into Ghost's face, "Lying little bitch..."

A knife was suddenly pointed at him, and he felt all the blood drain from his face. He was suddenly pushed the ground, his head hitting the concrete, and the sand scraping his skin.

"Hand it all over, now!"

The man kicked him in the stomach, standing over him.

Ghost felt himself slipping...

...

The sound of a gun clicking caught both of their attention. Each lifted their head to gaze up at the tall raven haired man in a vest. He held a gun in his hands, aiming at the robber.

"Back away from my friend."

And almost instantly, the man ran off, not even bothering to jump back into his car.

As soon as the man was out of sight, Toast dropped his gun, his face filled with fear as he rushed to kneel down in front of his partner.
Pulling Ghost into his lap, he held him in a tight embrace, tears in his eyes as he looked over his friend's hurt and limp body.

Ghost latched onto Toast as tightly as he could, his body shaking in his arms, "J-Johnny..."

"It's alright Ghost... I-I've got you... You're safe now..."

Toast sighed as he held his dearest friend tightly in his arms, burying his face into his hair, "I told you not to walk home by yourself! I-I could have lost you... I-If I wasn't here you could have..."

Ghost sobbed onto his partners chest, gasping, "Thank you Johnny... I don't know what I'd do without you..."

Cupping Ghost's cheeks in his hands, Toast brought their foreheads together, feeling his steady breathing against his face. Their eyes locked, and they felt a sense of comfort in each other's embrace, calming both of them down after the horrific incident.

From then on, Ghost never walked through that side of town alone.
