The morning arrived, and the start of the new day began.
Opening her eyes slowly, the sun blinded her vision for a brief minute, taking a moment to adjust to the light.
Sari yawned softly, turning in her sleeping bed by the camp fire, and her heart dropping at the sleeping Asylum laying right beside her.
The fact that she had finally reunited with him after all this time was nothing short of a miracle. She still couldn't believe that she was here, right by his side again.
She really had missed him.
Looking down at him, she smiled warmly as she watched him sleep. Her eyes analyzed his face, taking in every new detail, and finding more futures that made her heart skip a beat.
Light stubble grew along his jaw line and darkened skin, and his hair was much longer now, and was all tied up in a ponytail.
The scar running down his right eye.
It sent shivers down her spine, thinking of all the possible scenarios.
It was still him though. His same face...
She could still see the same Asylum she had grown to love.
Reaching out her arm, she ran her fingers through his rough black hair, twisting it playfully as her mind wondered off. Her heart raced in her chest.
The pirate Asylum slowly began to toss in his sleep, and the gentle tugging of his hair caused him to open his eyes slowly, and tiredly glance up at her, a small grin forming on his lips.
"Still like messing up my hair..?"
A small smile grew as she giggled, causing Asylum to flush a shade of red.
Sari rolled her eyes as she sat up, looking down at him with a smirk, "You need another haircut..."
"Not a chance." He mumbled, closing his eyes again.
It wasn't too long until he felt his head being lifted up slightly. Sari gently pulled him up so that his head was resting on her legs, continuing to run her fingers through his hair.
Normally he would stop her, tell her that they needed to continue moving and finish up more quests, but in this moment, he was too tried to care.
Having Sari back by his side again was something he didn't want to take for granted again. And the feeling of his hair being played with again felt more soothing than ever.
She began to hum a song, making his heart melt. The gentle sound relaxed him. He felt safe, peaceful.
"Asylum..." Her voice suddenly broke the song, making him look up at her. Her bright yellow eyes grew with concern, as her soft hands gently cupped the side of his face.
Their eyes meet, and she gave him a shy smile.
Leaning down, she placed an upside down kiss on his forehead, making them both blush.
Before she could lift her head back up, he carefully grabbed her face, and pulled her back down.
He hesitated, but slowly, he pressed his lips against hers, forming an upside down kiss.
It wasn't perfect, but it was well deserved, as they both finally completed each other.
