9 - Your Hands

At exactly 6:30PM, someone was knocking on the huge window beside my bed. Before I could stand up from my bed to check it out, someone slid the window open and the summer air blew the curtains inside our room.

"Yo, tara?"

My eyes widened, and I could feel my blood rushing through my veins. Terrence's snapback look will never fail to amaze me. Agad kong ibinaba ang librong hawak ko at sumama kay Terrence palabas ng bintana.

Dumiretso ang mga mata ni Terrence sa aking paanan, at tumingin siya sa akin with both of his brows in union.

"Baka gusto mong mag paa?" He suggested.

I smiled, when I saw Terrence's bare white feet tapping on the wooden porch of the window.

Inihagis ko pabalik sa loob ng kwarto 'yung sandals na suot ko kanina, at nagpatuloy kami sa paglalakad ni Terrence.

When we reached the front of our cabins, the glistening pond caught my attention, it was beautiful, and everything's beautiful when it gets dark. Terrence and I followed the other shoeless campers towards the West shore; we entered the forests having only our cell phone's light as our flashlights, and I must admit I was enjoying every step.

"Diba mas maganda pag nakapaa?"

I nodded as an answer.

"Ano pala 'yung binabasa mo kanina? 'Yun ba 'yung librong hiniram mo kay Nick?" Terrence walked backwards, so that his whole muscular body's facing towards me.

"Yep," I answered, not minding Terrence's perfect figure in front of me, "it's called A Road to Happiness."

I read his pinkish lips said, 'Ahh', and I watched as it curved into a wide smile.

"Tungkol naman saan?"

"Kasisimula ko lang basahin kanina, so hindi ko pa alam kung tungkol saan. But I think the title says it all." I stated.

Again with his, Ahh's, I couldn't help but turn my attention away from him, I've known him since we were kids, but this is the first time I've felt so small around him. He's perfect. He's flawed, yes. But that only makes him more perfect for me. I always like people who could make me laugh even in the most inappropriate events or occasion, and he's that one person.

I could hear the roaring sound of the waves and the smell of the salty sea and I couldn't help but to smile, I was just so excited.

I watched as the other campers exited the forest, we're almost there. As we took our turn to exit the forest, a cold breeze welcomed us. I wiggle my toes in the golden grains of sand beneath me, the deep blue ocean was majestic, and with a little bit of moonlight reflecting on it, as I open my mouth to take in a breath of fresh air, I can taste the saltiness of the sea on my tongue, and it was perfect.

Some of the campers were holding hands just beside the shore, playing in the water just like children in a toy store. As I look on my left, nagkumpulan ang ibang mga campers sa iisang lugar.

"Hindi pa nila nasisimulan," Terrence started, "tara tulong tayo."

In a second, I could feel his hands towards mine, until I felt his fingertips brushed my hands. Our palms touched, I looked down to see if it really is happening, and gosh, it is. I watched his fingers entwine with mine. Our hands was so close to each other that the warmth in between is shared. All I could think of is his huge hands locking in mine, it was wonderful and it was real, he is real, this is real! I just couldn't believe it. Lagi ba niyang ginagawa 'to sa akin? Ginagawa ba namin 'to noong bata kami? I couldn't remember, but with the looks of it, he just locks his hands in mine without hesitation, na parang lagi namin 'tong ginagawa at normal na sa amin 'to.
