I woke up when I felt something heavy was pumping on my chest. I slowly opened my eyes to check who it was but I was shocked when the pumping stopped then I felt soft and warm lips touched mine. After a second, she started counting while pumping my chest again."Do you think you're doing it right?" I exhaled, making her puffy eyes stare at me.
"Oh my God!" She exclaimed, as she wrapped her hands around my neck and rested her head on my chest. I felt an excruciating pain from the back of my head while she did that but I just tightly closed my mouth because she might stop hugging me if I shouted that I'm in pain.
"You're alive!" She rejoiced while tears started to fall down through her wet face it was as if she has seen a miracle happen in front of her eyes.
She was literally dripping wet and now that I mentioned it, so was I. Then I remembered we fell down into a hole and straight up in the water.
I slowly pushed myself up, not minding the pain my head is giving me. I looked around and saw the pit of water from behind Summer's back.
"That's where we fell," she pointed at the water but my eyes were glued on her hands. There was some kind of cloth wrapped around it and when I checked her clothes, her sweater was already cut in half exposing her flat stomach. "I dragged you all the way here when I saw a flat surface. I think this tunnel was made for mining or something, just check out those rails—"
"What happened to your hands?" She was about to say more but I cut her off.
She took a glimpse of it but she just hides it between her legs and her bare stomach.
"It doesn't matter—"
"What do you mean it doesn't matter?! Of course, it does— Fuck!" I was going to reach for her hands but the pain wouldn't let me.
Summer quickly went on her knees, "Let me help you lay down."
"No, I'd rather sit." I insisted. I caressed my neck, feeling another cloth was tied around it. That's when I remembered, she did protect my head with her hands.
"Thank you..." I whispered. "For saving me."
"Tell that to me when we're out of here. We're nowhere near saved." She stated, making a point.
I looked around to see if we can manually climb to that hole, but it's just too high up and there's nothing to grab.
"Have you seen what goes beyond that tunnel?" My voice echoed as I looked at the dark, endless tunnel lying just beside us.
"No, I was busy bringing you back to life." She shakingly said.
No, she didn't. All I could remember was her, kissing me. That wasn't a CPR. I smiled just with the thought of it. I've always wanted to know what it feels like to be kissed by her, but not like this.
"Nakuha mo pa talagang ngumiti," she said in her cute Filipino accent. "Can we just focus on surviving?"
I watch her as she tried her best to remain calm, but her body says otherwise. Namumuti na siya at mas nanginig dahil sa lamig.
With the little bit of strength I got left, I stood up, grunting in the process. I felt Summer's cold and shaky hands as she placed them on my abdomen and one in my back.
"You're warm." Her voice sounded softer than a whisper. She closed her eyes tightly, regretting her words, she wasn't expecting to say those words verbally in front of me but she did. "I mean you're—"
She's obviously cold and her whole body was shivering, I took off the hoody I was wearing and I wrapped it around the pale white Summer who was standing beside me.
