16 - Don't tell Terrence

Most of the people were dancing around the intense campfire with a bottle of cola in their hands. Some were exchanging kisses. Some were poking the fire, some were playing card games. Jin was playing the guitar while the others sang along. They may be doing different things at once but there's one thing they were all doing at the same time, they were all having fun with huge smiles plastered on their faces.

While everybody is having fun, I decided to walk along the shore on my own. I was watching the cold waves as it splashed on my bare feet for a while, so I decided to sit on the sand. I was doing this just a couple of hours ago when Justin was sitting a few meters in front of me while I sat behind him and watch him gaze through the horizon.

Gusto ko talagang mag sorry sa kaniya, at the same time pagpasalamat na rin dahil sinubukan niya akong tulungan. I also wanted to tell him that I can manage on my own, and that I know that thing will happen at the right time at sa tingin ko naman hindi pa right time ngayon. Hindi ko parin kayang magtapat kay Terrence, lalo na at nandito lagi si Jace para sirain ang buong mood.

"Waah!"

I was startled when someone sat beside me. It was a pregnant woman at iisa lang naman ang buntis sa buong camp na 'to.

"You startled me Miss Lucrezia." I said, trying to sound polite as possible.

"Hala, e! Ganun ba. Sorry naman, a!" She laughed hysterically while her breath stinks of alcohol.

"Miss, were you drinking?"

Iwinagayway niya ang boteng hawak hawak niya and I'm pretty sure na 'yun ang sanhi ng pagkalasing niya.

"Miss, give that to me." I tried to reach the bottle, pero nilalayo niya ito at pinagsisipa-sipa niya ako palayo sa kaniya. I tried my best to fight back para lang mapigilan ang pag iinom niya.

"Hala, e! Sino ka ba, ha? Asawa ba kita?" She said between her hiccups, "Hala, e. Wala pala akong asawa. In-buntis lang ako."

I stopped fighting back when she started sobbing.

"Wala na... wala na, e." Tears started leaving traces in her cheeks. "May magmamahal pa ba sa akin ngayon at alam na ng lahat na malandi ako at nagpabuntis ako?"

She raised her head, and she grabbed me by my shoulder. "Sabihin mo, napakalaking pagkakamali ang ginawa ko! Isa akong kahihiyan!" she cried out.

"Lucrezia don't say that, maybe... maybe things happen for a reason."

"Paano kung sabihin ko sa kaniya na anak niya 'to? Kukupkupin niya kaya 'tong bata?"

"Sino—"

"Kaylangan ng bata ng ama. Ang tunay niyang ama. Paano kung sinabi ko sa kaniya na anak niya 'to? Magagalit ba siya sa akin? Itatakwil niya ba ang anak namin?!"

"Lucrezia, there's only one way to find out. Hindi mo naman malalaman kung hindi mo susubukan."

"Paano kung i-reject niya ang batang 'to?!"

I didn't know what to answer. I'm never good at comforting people. I never know what to say next. All I could do was to listen hoping that it is enough.

"Magagalit ka ba kapag sinabi ko—" Lucrezia stopped when she saw Jace jogging towards our direction. He was holding my slippers.

"Miss Summer, is she disturbing you?"

"No. Where'd you get that?" Pointing at my slippers.

"May nag-abot po sa akin. Ang sabi, hinubad mo raw doon sa dulo ng beach. It was almost swept by the waves." Dahan dahan na ibinaba ni Jace ang slippers ko sa aking tabi saka niya inalalayang tumayo si Lucrezia.
