I am in a heavy black cloud. Nothing to see. Nothing to hear. Just this heaviness in my whole body. So heavy that I couldn't move. I couldn't remember how to open my eyes. Then I started hearing noises. The buzz of machines. Clicking of feet near me. Quiet talking. I lied still. I strained to hear and makes sense of it all. No idea. Where am I? Next I feel some light shining on my closed eyes - a pink glow. I struggled to open them. Success. I was in a familiar bright place.
Someone was bending over me. He said my name. And again. I tried to remember how to talk. No words came, but I blinked hard. Again he called me. Again I tried to answer. Suddenly I cleared my throat. I think I was about to shout. But all that came out was a tiny whisper "What happened?".
"Gising na siya!" The unfamiliar man beside me shouted.
I wanted to move my hands but I couldn't. With the remaining strength I have, I moved my head and see Terrence's perfectly sculptured head sleeping at the edge of my bed while he held my hands.
"Oh, God! Sam!" Nanlaki ang mga mata ko nang maamoy ko ang isang pamilyar na pabango and to my right side I saw my sister, Ate Spring, stroking my hair.
"Hindi mo ba maalala ang nangyari? You drowned." Ate Prie said with slight horror in her eyes. "But Terrence saved you."
"But he—"
"I called him. Remember when I called you? Tapos nawalan ng signal, I knew that something will happen. I told you, you should've listened to me."
Ibinalik ko ang mga mata ko kay Terrence. He looked tired and restless, the huge window behind him made me feel at ease. I'm still in the summer camp. I'm still in our cabin.
"Terrence never left you. He was holding your hand for two days—"
"Two days?!" My voice cracked.
"Shh. You shouldn't move Sam. And yes, Sam. You were resting for two days."
I felt Terrence moved, he sat up straight, adjusted his eyes as it lands on mine.
"Uy, Sam!" Nang narealize niyang gising ako, he quickly stood up and he reached for my head. "Buti naman at naisipan mo ring gumising."
I chuckled, as we exchanged stares. Here again, I couldn't believe that he saved me again.
"Gising na ba siya?" I almost had a heart attack when I heard a voice. That specific voice. That voice that would send me straight to hell.
A tear escaped from my eyes as I felt shivers run through me. He's the last person that I would want to see at times like these or else I know that I'll regret being alive.
"Pa, she's awake." Ate Prie stated.
Inayos niya ang suit and tie niya habang naglalakad papunta sa paanan ko. He placed a smirk on his face, but all I could do was to look away. I looked at Terrence, who is already looking at me.
I wanted to thank him for not leaving my side for two days that I almost cried. I couldn't thank Terrence enough. If he didn't stay, God knows what could have had happened to me.
"You're going home."
"No."
I stared at that man's face, which is now full of rage. I could only imagine the things he would do to me if I get back home.
He cleared his throat and repeated what he just said while he raises his tone.
"No, I am not. I'm fine now. Thanks for checking up on me."
