17 - Now, Tomorrow and Forever

"Hyung, please let me borrow your car." Pagmamakaawa ni Terrence kay Nick. His voice echoed in the entire cafeteria.

"Bro, it's impossible. Hindi ko pwedeng ipahiram 'yun basta-basta. Gusto ko mang makatulong pero pag ay nangyaring masama sa'yo 'yung camp ang masisisi..." Nick insisted.

Nick and Terrence started quarreling. Gusto kong pumagitna but they have the other boys to mediate. Terrence looked helpless, that he's almost about to cry. I wanted to run towards Terrence's side and back him up, but my legs said otherwise. I wanted to help him, the least thing I could do was to back him up because all the boys were on Nick's side, insisting that Terrence should calm down and stay within the camp.

"You don't understand—" Terrence begged, "I have to go. Yuan-hyung! Sabihin mo sa kanila kaylangan kong pumunta."

But Yuan was on Nick side. He shook his head as he continued drinking his soda.

Gusto kong kausapin si Terrence at klaruhin ang lahat. Everything happened so fast, I couldn't catch up.

My sister's marrying Trevor, her fiance and I guess Terrence is just excited. I know he's just excited. He has to be. I mean... what else could it be?

Pinilit kong ngumiti sa ideyang 'yun. Ngunit dahan dahang lumalabo ang mga mata ko na para bang may sarili itong pag iisip.

Mabilis kong pinunasan ang mga mata ko at nang klumaro na ito isang puting panyo kaagad ang bumungad sa akin. Sinundan ko kung saan nanggagaling ito— Justin.

He's the last person I would want to be with right now. But he's there, standing beside me, holding a piece of a handkerchief on one of his hand while the other was tucked in his pockets.

Without saying a word, my eyes gave in. I accepted his handkerchief, at minadali ko itong pinunas sa aking namamasa na mga mata.

But when I was about to return it to him, Justin was already at Nick's table and Lisa was standing in front of me.

"Summer," she called me, "anong nangyayari?"

"He's just excited," I replied. But Lisa was still wearing that same furrowed expression. She wasn't buying it.

"Hindi siya mukhang excited sa akin." She said, referring to Terrence.

Matagal nang magkakilala si Terrence at ate Prie, it's very normal for him to be excited and all, kahit bukas pa ng gabi ang kasal ni ate. He has all the right to be this excited.

"In one condition..." Nick raised a finger, "I'll drive."

Mabilis na pumayag si Terrence and both of them rushed upstairs para ihanda ang sasakyan ni Nick.

"Terre—"

Nick and Terrence walked past me as if I was just a stranger. It was my first time seeing Terrence so tense and serious and scared that I almost forgot that he was the same boy I was always with since childhood.

It made me nervous and scared too. I might lose him- the Terrence I once knew.

"Summer," I flinched when I felt someone touched my shoulder. It was Lisa. "Pag dating niyo sa pupuntahan niyo... i-update mo ako."

I nodded as an answer.

Binuntutan ko sila Nick paakyat sa kwarto niya. His bookshelves were still full of books, the fireplace was a mess and so is his desks, full of files and papers. What didn't disappoint me was the smell, it still smells like fresh coffee in the morning. It reminded me of the day when I first came here with Terrence and Jimin. Nick was the one who welcomed us with open arms and wide smiles and now we're suddenly leaving, with a long face and dark expression.
