Chapter 27 - Starting (Part 1)

-The Next Day-

Demi's Pov

I woke up the next morning and made myself breakfast, I ate breakfast and then suddenly felt sick. This hasn't happened in a long time, I rushed to the bathroom and threw up all the breakfast I had just eaten. I then suddenly got a sharp stabbing pain in the side of my stomach. I doubled over with pain and I winced.

When the pain was gone, I slowly got to my feet and walked back into the living room where Joe was watching TV. 

Joe's Pov

Demi walked out of the bathroom and she looked really pale "Are you alright babe?" I said concerned

"I'm good" she replied "Just threw up my breakfast"

"Thats not good. Why do you think that was?"

"I dunno, maybe the baby not agreeing with eating this early?"

"Oh. Come and sit down Dems"

Demi walked over to where I was sitting but before she got there she doubled over in pain and winced, she held her stomach and I could see the pain in her eyes. I got up and tried to help her to the sofa. "Stop!" she said raising her voice "It hurts too much"

Once the pain was over she stood up again and sat down on the sofa, I turned the TV on and put my arm around her. "Dems?"

"Yeah" she replied

"Are you going into labour?"

"I don't know, maybe. But I think it's just Braxton Hicks"

"Oh" I replied

Demi stood up again and put her hand on her stomach, she started to breathe deeply and she rocked from side to side. I recongnised that she was doing some of the moves that we had learnt in the birthing class that we went to.

"Demi?" I asked puzzled

"Yeah" she replied, obviously still in pain

"Are you having another contraction?" I asked

"I think so"

"You want me to call the hospital?"

"No, they said we should wait for them to get worse" she replied

"No, they said that if we were unsure we could call anyway, and, I'm unsure" I said

"Okay" she said as she started getting another pain

I picked up the phone and dialled the number for the hospital labour ward:

"Hello, labour ward midwife speaking" the lady said on the other end of the phone

"Hi" I replied "My partner is having pains and I think she might have gone into labour"

"What's her name please?" she asked

"Demetria Devonne Lovato" I replied

"Okay" she said as she typed he name into her computer "And how often are the pains?" she asked

"Every 4-5 minutes" I replied

"Sir, you need to bring your partner into hospital now. We will examine her and if she can go home for a bit longer then we will do that but as it is her first baby, we recommend that she comes in, just to be safe" she said

"Okay, thank you" I said as I put the phone down

I turned to Demi who was having another pain "We need to go in now" I said

"O-okay" she replied

We waited for the pain to be over and then I helped Demi into my car and then I got into the drivers seat and drove us to the hospital.
