Ten Years Old ❣︎ June

Fourth grade was a piece of cake. The year flew by incredibly fast, leaving Archie dizzy, and Jughead excited.

Next year was finally going to be their last year of elementary school, and Jughead was more excited than Archie. In his opinion, middle school is going be better than Elementary school.

Boy is he wrong.

"Do you really have to go?" The scarlet hue asks sadly, pouting and squeezing the darker hue's hand.

"No, I mean I could just not get on the bus if you don't want me to, I mean it'll be last minute I don't really have to-" Jughead starts to ramble, ready to take his suitcase inside right now if it meant Archie wanted him to stay.

"Shut up, you have to go! I was just... kidding no you have to go." Archie reassures him, putting on his best fake smile, which Jughead sees through quite easily.

"You don't want me to go though." Jughead says, not even bothering to ask because he already knows he's right. Archie nods his head guiltily before sighing and letting go of his best friend's hand.

"You have to go and that's it. This is a big deal, and you can't just miss out on something because of me." Archie points out, starting to pace the dirt covered terrain that marks the yard of Jughead's trailer.

Jughead had been invited to attend a prestigious summer camp in New York for outstanding academic achievements in science. It's already a big deal considering few are selected to go, but it's an even bigger deal that usually they only pick kids who are 12 and up.

Jughead is only 10.

Secretly, Jughead is ecstatic to go. Being invited is a real honor, and obviously Jughead understands that. He feels like he finally did something right, and he wants to be proud of himself-

But.

The camp is all summer long.

The duo hasn't been apart since before they met. Being separated is going to be so hard for both of them, and honestly, if Archie said the word he'd decline the invitation to go in an instant.

The raven haired boy's thoughts are interrupted by the sound of a sleek black car pulling up to the trailer park's entrance.

Immediately, Fp and Mrs. Jones come outside to greet the driver and help out Jughead's bags in the car.

"Guess this is it." Archie sighs sadly.

"You act as if you're never going to see me again."

"What if I don't? Huh? What if something bad happens to you. What if you get killed in a science experiment?"

"What a nice goodbye speech."

"I'm serious."

"I'll be okay."

"Promise me?"

"I promise."

"I'll see you soon."

"I'll see you soon."

"I love you Juggy."

"I love you Arch."

"Don't have too much fun."

"I'll try."

"Yeah right."

The two laugh before Jughead pulls Archie into a tight hug, only for Archie to hug him back tighter.

"When do we get hugs goodbye?" Mrs. Jones teases, causing Jughead to giggle and engulf her into another big hug. He then says his good byes to his dad, and finally Jelly Bean, who is almost 3 years old.

"I'll miss you so much J!" Jel sniffles before making grabby hands, causing Jughead to easily pick her up.

"I'll miss you too JB." Jughead smiles before poking her cheek, causing her to giggle.

After Jughead puts her down, he waves his final goodbyes to everyone before getting into the car, and starting his first ever adventure by himself.

Okay there'll probably be a triple update today. I'm going to get through fifth grade, and start a little bit of sixth grade, and maybe we'll even get to seventh grade if I'm up to it.
