Eight Years Old ❣︎ May

Archie really likes Betty.

It seemed like the redhead spent almost everyday with the blonde, practically drooling over her.

Why this sudden change in outlook?

Archie has no idea.

It was a new feeling, but it also felt too familiar, if that makes any sense. It didn't in Archie's mind either.

Betty had managed to whip Archie into shape with constant math, English, and science lessons. She somehow made everything understandable.

She would relate addition and subtraction to the frets on Archie's guitar, or compare spelling to the notes in Archie's notebook. The blonde is honestly a really good teacher, and somehow Archie is now able to past the second grade.

It's all thanks to her.

"Let's go to the park to celebrate!" The blonde beams enthusiastically before grabbing Archie's hand, cashing the latter to blush vividly at the contact.

In a few seconds, the bubbly blonde is running around the playground energetically with a bright smile on her face, a smile Archie can't resist.

"Don't just stand there dummy! Push me on the swings!" Betty pouts before Archie quickly makes his way over to the old rusty swing set.

Betty gracefully sits down as a creak sounds from the rubber, patiently waiting for the redhead to escort her up into the air.

Archie grips the cool chains in his hand, pulling the blonde backwards and releasing, sending her off into the sky.

Immediately her honey filled giggles fill up the open air as her yellow skirt ruffles in the wind to match the same action of her hair.

Archie can't help but to stare at how beautiful and free she looks in this moment.

It's perfect, the moment is perfect, she is perfect.

A few more pushes and the Blonde hue is flying freely by herself, independent and enjoying it. Archie couldn't fathom how she was able to find so much joy in being alone.

He's never found someone that made loneliness look fun.

"Hey, Betty?" The scarlet hue speaks softly, unsure whether or not he should go through with his next action.

"Yes Archie?" Betty seems to reply whimsically, still soaring wistfully in the air.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Anything." She promises, starting to slow down until eventually, her decent comes to a stop.

"Shoot." She giggles, watching Archie intently.

Archie smiles nervously before lowering himself on one knee and taking out a blue raspberry ring pop from his pocket.

"Just give me a second." He mumbles before the crinkly sound of the thin plastic fills the small space between them, and the shiny ring is revealed.
