The girl sitting next to me blinked and sat up. She'd moved backwards to curl up against the side of the bench and sat staring at me from under the dull streetlamps. Now she rubbed her hands up and down her arms, trying to stay warm.
"She left?"
I sighed, inhaling the cool air and feeling it settle at the bottom of my lungs. Then I let it out, locking my hands behind my head as I watched the sky."...I don't think she was ever really with me to begin with."
