I smiled softly to myself and looked over at the girl sitting beside me on the park bench, mascara smudging her eyes. I shook my head. The girl made a small sound and I smiled in her direction. "There wasn't a list of things she'd keep the same. One thing I should have remembered is that she meant every word she said to me. She'd change it all. There wasn't a list. There never was. And I guess it's like she said. You never really do leave the people you love.
And she never loved me."
