EDIT: WAIT. WHAT. I just realized I'm late. Did I not upload anything for Tuesday? Or am I early for Thursday's update? Ah well, it's finally come to my attention that it is, in fact, midnight WEDNESDAY at the moment, not Tuesday. Sorry for the late (or early) upload. I'm so confused. But the updating schedule should be normal from here on out!

Chapter Four: Rooftop// Nighttime Creatures
Everything about her was alluring. She seemed to come out of nowhere, and I marvelled at how she glided on the slanted rooftops, when I could barely scoot around on my butt without getting nervous.
I asked her about it once. She tilted her head and gave me a tight-lipped smile, seeming to think about it for a minute.
"...They say pain makes you graceful."
I stayed silent.
I got curious about her. Her easy, laid-back manner about everything, and how she knew what to say to make me talk.
The smile always lingering on the corners of her lips, almost there but not quite.
I made it a habit to come out more often until I hardly waited for midnight to slide open my window and slip outside, just to make sure she was still there.

It's probably my own fault, you know. I fell too easily. At least, that's what she told me. She said a lot the day she floated away.
That it was no use chasing after broken nighttime creatures like her. That I was meant for the sun, and that I shouldn't wait for someone like her because she's not coming back.
I told her she wasn't some creature.
She laughed softly and said nothing.
Thinking back at it years later, maybe she was just saying she didn't want to come back.
But, then again... maybe she did, and she didn't know how.
