Demon of Darkness

My child woke me from my earned night's rest
Screaming loudly, in some type of distress
I enter her room to see what is wrong
She points to the ceiling without a sound

I look up at the ceiling as she lays transfix
It's some sort of shadow with two eyes and red lips
Its two eyes blink twice and bright big teeth now appear
I gaze at the demon, "It's time to run my dear!"

She exits as the shadow exhibits its frustration
With its red eyes now gleaming from another dimension
I state loud and clear, "There'll be no souls here to eat tonight!
Now come down from there red-eyed demon and prepare to fight!"

It slithers down quickly and into an offensive stance
"You challenge me fool?" It answers, "You have no mortal chance!"
Swiftly, it makes its move and lunges a vicious attack
I summon my staff and I strike it hard, it falls down flat

Shaking, it asks, "What is this magic? It doesn't feel right!"
"Magic is from darkness, my power is pure sacred light."

"I am a guardian of the innocent!"
Then I strike him hard once more!
"I banish you back to the pit of hell,
Demon of darkness be gone!"
