The Documentary

Chapter 5

i wake up to an alarm. it reads "7:45am"
i switch it off and what feels to be 2 hours ends up being 15 minutes. another one goes off at 8. i try once more. i fall back to sleep and once again the annoying alarm clock goes off. i switch it off immediately. and i annoyingly begin to walk downstairs. i smell something burning and walk faster. as i get closer to the kitchen it gets stronger and stronger. i rush down to see a room full of black smoke and everyone coughing. i walk over to the doors and open them up letting the smoke escape.

me: guys what were you thinking?

jack: we just wanted to make you a nice breakfast.
i look over at jack and he's smiling innocently at me.

i pause for a second and we all just look at each other not really sure what to do. logan soon comes rushing in and treats this situation like an adult would, kinda. he is hold his vlog camera as always and i remembered about my documentary.  i run upstairs and grab my "vlog camera", yeah let's call it that. i come down stairs and begin to film. i set it up in the corner of the room on a tripod as we fix this situation.
  jack reaches into the oven and pulls out a burnt casserole which actually looked pretty well prepared, just if it wasn't cooked as long.

jack: do you guys just want to go and get breakfast somewhere?

me: yeah, yeah, let's do that.

we all pause once again and this time we start laughing together forgetting about the smoke still fresh in the air. as soon as we do a bunch of coughs are let out again.

we all separate into our different rooms and get ready for the day. i take a shower and wash the smoke smell out of my hair. i then grab a towel and dry myself. i wipe the mirror which was covered in steam and begin to do my hair and makeup. i put on leggings, a cute shirt and my white converse that aren't so white anymore and we all head out the door. logan gets into his car and corbyn, zach and jonah ride with him. daniel, jack and i then go in jacks car and follow logan to the grove.

jack: so bethany. what's your thought about all this?

me: like you guys?

jack: yeah.

me: well, i just think it's all so crazy and you guys are so lucky to be living this kind of life. i'd die for this.

jack: yeah we're all so thankful.

daniel: we are. i love how we're just all so close, like everyone here is like family.

we pull through some roads and end up on hollywood boulevard. where logan lives.

jack: do you want to step out and take a few pics?

daniel: yeah, bethany?

me: oh yea!

we get out of jacks car and meet up with logan, corbyn, zach and jonah. we take a few dope pictures and we begin to walk around. before we could see anything cool and picture worthy a bunch of screaming people come from around the corner. they all mob up to the boys and logan asking to take pictures. i felt a little out of place so i remain where i am.

jack pulls me by the hand and we rush behind a statue.

jack: i'm sure you're not quite used to that.

me: yeah not really.

jack: stay here i'll get everyone out of this.

i wait for the all clear from jack. once everyone is gone we continue driving to the grove. on the way i see a bunch of amazing graffitied monuments and i imagine the stories behind them. once we reach our destination, we walk around for a while before deciding to find a place to eat. we choose caribou cafe. a little coffee shop in a more calm part of this very busy location. we sit down and eat for a while. i get a bagel with some cream cheese and a coffee and everyone else gets about the same thing. after we're done jack starts to sing, and the rest of the boys join in. in this moment i feel like the most special girl in the world. hanging with all these people makes me feel like i found my crowd. this is the happiest i've been in a long time. i'm so thankful
