Chapter 29- The Journey Ahead

"You haven't told me your name."
Rowena Ravenclaw sat on the smooth-sailing boat, wind blowing through her strawberry-blonde hair, her face not showing the many worries she had cooped up inside of her.
The man, who had 'kindly' agreed to assist Rowena on her journey only to save his family, laughed." Why should you want to know?"
Rowena rolled her eyes-- what kind of dude makes friends with someone without telling them their name, let alone travel across the sea on a dangerous mission?
She turned away, annoyed at the man. She hated referring to him as 'the man', it was like there needed to be some kind of formality between them.
"Cepheus."
"What?" Rowena turned to look at him as he used his wand to change the direction of the propeller.
"Cepheus. My name, is Cepheus." He smiled at her, satisfied in the direction they were heading, then moved over his stuff to where shelter was.
     Rowena, aware that her sister could Apparate and didn't want to risk the chance of being caught once again and started pacing up and down the boat, casting the same protective spells she did at Hogwarts.
     As she did so, she could feel Cepheus' eyes burning into her skin, watching her every move.
     "What are you doing?" He finally asked when Rowena had sat down and closed her eyes. They shot open again at his words.
     "Protective spells. No one will hear us or hurt us. Though, I allow sight because I believe it is vital in sailing." Her words caused Cepheus to laugh.
     "What's so funny?" She asked, annoyed at this man for laughing at her for trying to be safe.
     "Nothing," he said, though it wasn't really reassuring. A loud boom and a crack resounded as the sky gradually turned grey. Neither of the two cared.
"Tell me; how do you know Devriul?" Rowena asked, trying to start a conversation as Cepheus went back to controlling the makeshift propeller.
     "I lived at that little stone hut for forever, and then his brother, Orion, came out of the forest one day, just a little child like me." He moved his wand and the boat swerved jerkily to the left, causing Rowena to jump and grab on to something.
     "He was all injured, got them bruises and cuts everywhere cause of them brambles and whatnot, so mum cared for him, he was like a brother to me."
     Another boom from the horrid thunder came, and then another bright flash with a thickening crack.
     "Only he had his own."
     The boat started to move slower because of the waves that built higher and higher kept crashing into it. Water seeped onto the deck.
     "Every day, ya know? Every day he'd sneak back to the forest with food, coming out again with none. I reckoned he was feeding some animal pet of his, but he was feeding his baby brother, Devriul."
     Another sickening boom and crack followed his words. The water level was climbing, higher and higher still. Cepheus got up.
     "My mum took him in as well. Became a little family we did. Just my parents, Orion, Devriul and me. Then the two decided to go back to where they started, back to the forest."
      He closed the doors that lead to the front deck of the ship, and just in time too, because a wave crashes against the door, only a small amount of water seeping through by the underneath.
     "Then I got some monkey giving me a letter, saying Devriul's married some laddie. It's been a while since then, and now you come, and my family's been ripped apart."
     He performed one last spell at the propeller before shutting the back doors. The sound of the thunder and the light of the lightning could no longer hurt them.
     "Taken all the way to Britain? I knew I couldn't keep losing my family. So I'm going to go get Uni and Orion." His silver eyes twinkled as they looked at Rowena.
     "Then we leave. We ain't gonna help your sorry arse no more. But don't worry; I'll... protect, you."
     He lay down on one of the seats and covered his face with a cap from the floor. When his snores started annoying Rowena, she decided it was best to get some rest as well.
     "Hang tight," she told herself," I've still got a long journey ahead."
