Rowena had became reckless-- the castle was open to the public who missed Rally Day, and sometimes the four founders walked along with the visitors to talk and to explain certain areas. So she decided to roam around the halls, making sure she at least covered her face, to visit Professor Lilac or catch glimpses of Godric.
Godric...
She had to restrain herself from going up to him and slapping him, telling him off for being so blind and stupidly in love with her-- the mere idea of her-- to realise that something was wrong. And not only him, but her friends as well. She thought that her peculiarity in behavior and the lack of magic coming from her would be enough for something to click in their brains, but it wasn't.
At this point, she didn't even know if they were her friends.
True friends know you, and will ask and immediately know if something's different, if something's wrong. They'd always make sure that everything was alright, sometimes putting themselves before you. At least, that's what Rowena did. Did Helga, Salazar and Godric do so?
     Hard to tell.
At least they've got the school up and almost running. At least they had their dreams almost completely fulfilled. But Rowena knew that the four friends had broke-- Rowena herself has gone away, kidnapped and only came back when everything was almost finished; Godric had fallen in love and was about to marry the wrong woman; Salazar had abandoned his love and started becoming what his mother wanted him to be; Helga had lost everything, but at least she found another man to help her and her child.
Four friends, who were so beautifully intact at 11, became hopelessly separated at 20, despite the close proximity. They had lost each other.
     Rowena had lost them.
She knocked on the door of the Professor-- she was glad that her squib of a sister had forbidden that room because of Ophichus-- and stepped inside quickly, before another hoard of witches and wizard started going down the hallway. She took in a deep breath before releasing it, along with her emotions-- she doubted she could take this no longer.
Unable to even confide in her parents, Professor Lilac was the next best thing. She was like her third mother-- Nan came second, of course-- and Rowena loved her dearly, just as Professor Lilac treated her as her own... if she had her own.
"My dear, you're back again?" She said, bemused that Rowena had come over so often. She did spend six to seven months with Cepheus only, so contact with other witches and wizards was necessary.
Rowena silently nodded her head and sat down. Helena frowned before moving over to the shaking girl. "There, there, what's wrong love?" She asked, kneeling in front of the sobbing young woman she had watched grow up. He once innocent, light blue eyes had become a dark teal because of how tired and exhausted she was. It was like hope had seeped from her body-- she was paler now, and it was evident that she was on the brink of giving up.
"I don't think I can do this anymore, Professor," Rowena whispered, raising her hands to her face in an attempt to stop the influx of tears. "I just don't know how much more I can take."
Helena sighed and helped to wipe a tear away. She hated seeing a student so sad-- that was why her detentions were actually preferable-- she was stern, but never, ever made a student cry. In fact, she was the one that made those who were sad happy once more.
"My dear, do I hear the sound of... giving up?" Rowena stayed quiet. "Is this the sound of fatigue, I am hearing?" Rowena nodded her head. Helena looked up at the beautiful girl-- a frown was on her face, no longer the bright, happy smile.
"Rowena, darling, you have lost sight of what is important," She said. "You were taken away to be killed; yet you came back here. Why, Rowena, what made you come back?"
"I couldn't let my sister take everything," Rowena sniffed. "I had worked hard to get where I was, and she took it all away from me with one spell? Even after I offered my help to get her to my level? It wasn't fair, was it?" Anger boiled inside of Rowena as she recalled all the recent things she had to go through-- her almost-death, the loss of her newfound friends, the sad stories that were because of her... It was too much.
"I didn't do anything-- I couldn't let her take everything from me. I fought to get Godric, my love, back, I fought to keep my new family together. And she just took it away from me. That's why I came back-- to settle things with my sister, and get my life that she stole back."
Semi-breathless, Rowena gave Helena a sad glare; she had let loose the emotions that had built up inside of her, and it felt good to find some release.
Suddenly fatigued by the overwhelming process she had just gone through, she sat back down in the chair she was seating in earlier and closed her eyes, breathing out a sigh. She had identified the problem, what she had done so far to overcome it, but still hadn't found a solution to the problem.
     Yet.
Helena rested her palm on hers. "My dear, what do you wish you could do, right now, at this very second, to solve this predicament?" She brushed her fingers through Rowena's hair, absentmindedly humming a little song that Professor Forfax once sang to her. She sighed; she wanted to be reunited with her love sooner, but she had to wait. Patience, she thought. All good things come in time.
"I wish I could walk up to Flaura and talk to her-- tell her she's being unreasonable. If not, I wish I could talk to my friends... idiotic, really, when would I wear something like a full-blown leather outfit? I'm more of a silk, though blue is what I'd wear..." Rowena said, wiping some tears that remained away.
Helena hid her smile before addressing the trouble woman. "Then tell her she's being unreasonable. Tell her that she should stop her actions before it is too late." Helena stepped forward and tilted Rowena's chin so that she was looking up at her.
"Tell your sister how you really feel about her, Rowena. Tell her that it's never too late to change."
Professor Lilac walked back to her desk and started preparing the potions needed to pull of the plan they had.
As Rowena slowly exited the room, Helena said, "She's you sister, Rowena, and you are hers."
