Song for the chapter: What Do You Mean by Justin Bieber

"... a demon... a monster..."
The crashing of the shores were louder this time; the sea was within reach. The grass was no longer wild; it had been buried beneath pure, white sand.
Rowena Ravenclaw clutched the small, tiny silver compass slung around her neck and put away the bronze telescope back into her bag, which had the undetectable extension charm, before gazing out at the blue sea.
"The Devil's friend..." she muttered. Uni's words still hadn't made sense to her-- why would the Devil,a person from a religion she didn't particularly believed in, have a friend that would help her?
Rowena continued to walk, along the beach, the sun rising ever so slowly as she did. Her shoes imprinted onto the soft sand as the wind blew her hair, sending it in different directions.
The further she walked, the more signs of human life came; a few buckets now filled with seaweed and sand; some pieces of parchment here and there; food that birds came swooping down to eat.
Finally, a small stone cottage sat on top of a sandy hill that seemed to be separated because of the high tide. The water lapped at the base of the building, and moss climbed the rocky walls.
It was then Rowena realised-- it wasn't the Devil's friend, it was Devriul's friend!
With this newfound discovery, she ran to the little cottage, her shoes getting wet and sandy by the wet sand and water, hoping that this man-- or woman-- will help her get back to her family.

"Hello?"
The mahogany door creaked loudly and Rowena cautiously stepped into the surprisingly bright house-- one of the walls was made completely out of glass, allowing the sunlight to pour into the place.
It was a two storey place, she realised, as a black steel staircase spiralled up to provide access to the second, cobblestone floor.
The door slammed shut behind Rowena as she took a step forward, causing her to instinctively pull out her wand.
"No need to play dirty dear."
Rowena's eyes darted around and found a man shrouded in the darkness the stairs provided, looking at her with silver eyes, only a rough outline visible.
"What do you mean by that?" Rowena asked as she continued to watch his silhouette.
"Who are you." His deep, dark voice deep-- it was a question, yet it didn't seem like one.
"You're Devriul's friend..."
The man scoffed." 'Course I am." He stepped out of the shadows, revealing a strongly built man with a scar running across his right eye. He was wearing a ripped grey shirt, tainted with blood along the tears, and shorts that were torn round the hem.
"I'm a friend of Uni's," she said quickly," Devriul's dead, Uni's captured; she sent me."
Rowena hadn't talked so fast.
The man stopped, his expression blank but Rowena could tell the cogs in his brain were turning-- his friend is dead, and his wife was captured.
"What do you mean? Sent you to do what?" It sounded like a growl, and Rowena made herself more observant. "You have to help me get them back. They're in Old London, my sister-- long story, just help me get back so I can set things right!"
The man went over it for a second, then beckoned her to sit at the old, tattered green couch. She obliged, hoping this man wasn't crazy.
"I will help you get Uni--"
"And Orion." Rowena interjected. The man's eyes twinkled dangerously.
"And Orion, and that's all. Only if you tell me the story."
"But it'll take forever!" Rowena cried, exasperated. "I can tell you on the way--"
The man shook his head. Rowena sucked in a breath.
     Quickly, then.
And so the tale began. Flaura Mae invented spells that killed and tortured, and she decided to kill Rowena and Transfigurate into her and take her place by killing her on foreign grounds. Only it backfired. She then was taken under Uni's and Orion's care, and was told the forest had an enchantment to cause earthquakes to kill if Rowena was still alive. Flaura found them and kidnapped Uni and Orion, Uni leaving a riddle that led her to him in order to set things right.
The man was silent, then he stood up, grabbing a bag similar to Rowena's and stuffing some fruits into them." I'll help you." He muttered, before leading her out and to a boat that was bobbing up and down in the waves.

"Can you enchant it to go faster?" Rowena asked, clambering into the wooden boat. The man went in after her, and conjured a fan-like structure that turned to propel the boat forward.
He muttered something under his breath while shooting a look at Rowena, and she sighed as she took a seat inside.
It's going to be a long ride.
