Song for the chapter: Someone Like You by Adele~
The sun had just started to rise over the bush where Rowena Ravenclaw and Cepheus Lupin slept-- the only difference was that they weren't there.
The gap in the bush was gone, replaced by leaves and roots entwined together, as if no creature had pried through its branches. The inside of the strangely hollow bush was dirty and unkempt; insects crawled here and there among the piles of brown and green leaves. The trunk was scratched and dirty.
It was like nature had mended itself by magic.
Because it was. Was it too obvious? She first thought, but then the thought quickly left her brain as they started to walk on-- there were other impending issues to discuss.
Like how she cried herself to sleep last night. Like how. Cepheus confessed his love for her. She fell asleep in his arms...
It felt just like how it did when she was with Godric-- he would tell her about his day, how he felt, as they both drowsily fell asleep in each others arms...
It was different now.
He did all that with another woman. He kissed her sister goodnight, thinking it was her. He sent stabs of pain through her body every time he did, and this was because of the Unbreakable Curse. It would worsen if he had married Flaura; they'd both die. Without ever finding out the truth.
But would she die? Would she die of the immense pain? Because now, she barely felt anything. The pain still existed, but it felt fine because of how frequent it became. The memories haunted her each night, but it somehow felt... okay. Fine. It hurt, but when she came back, would things even be the same? Would he still love her, or her sister?
"Knock knock."
Rowena smiled; despite the tough journey and decisions, Cepheus still managed to make her happy. "You finally decided to stop zoning out today, huh?" He smirked and Rowena slapped him playfully on his arm, before looping hers through his. She lay her head on his shoulder-- friends do this, right?-- and sighed.
"There's so much to do, Cepheus, and I don't think I can do it all."
Cepheus sighed back. "I know, love. But your plan-- the plan so brilliantly devised by the most intelligent witch in Great Britain, possibly the world-- might work. It should work," he said, causing Rowena to laugh a little.
He does brighten people's days.
"Thank you, but seriously-- we need to locate the-- ahh!"
The pain had come back, but because it wasn't so intense, she still stood. It was like a blow to the head; she stumbled, and her grip on Cepheus tightened. Her mind was hazy, her head pounded.
A memory was surfacing...~
"Stuck in a broom closet!"
I laugh at the woman before me, tied up helplessly in one of the closets of her office.
Her muffled whimpers only add up to my amusement even more.
"Ophichus would love this office, he would," I say, playing with her hair. "After all, you'd become useless after my success, these would go to waste..."
I gesture to the tools, vials and cauldrons at the desk. Despite being a charms teacher, she also specialised in potion making.
"You're little boyfriend too."
Her eyes widen at the mention of Professor Forfax. He was my favourite teacher, but he was on the wrong side. As long as he was with Helena, he was on the wrong side. Because Helena supported Rowena all the way.
"Rowena!"
I slam the broom closet shut. Godric had entered. He's smiling, so he didn't see or hear anything.
"Hey babe," I say, pulling him close and kissing him. I could never get used to kissing him, it just feels so good...~
Rowena's eyes shot wide open.
"Cepheus," she gasped, holding him by the elbows. "I know what to do. I know where the captors--well one of them-- are!" Cepheus grinned.
"She probably knows where the others are kept, too!"
Rowena mimicked his grin that stretched ear to ear. They started to pick up the pace with their little burst of enthusiasm and energy. "We might have a chance," Rowena said, leaning into Cepheus a little bit more.
Cepheus winced. He didn't like how close they were, considering they hadn't talked about the night before, especially his confession. But this was how they could be, this is how he wanted it to be...
"There many chances, aren't there?" He said quietly.
Rowena nodded, silently. Godric wouldn't be there when she came back, would he? Chances are, he wouldn't, after everything that happened.
Rowena turned to face him. "You've got a chance too," she said, before leaning in to softly graze her lips across his.~
